Позитивное мышление» в англоязычном фольклоре
В текстах англоязычных сказок очень часто встречается прилагательное positive, его производные и синонимы. Его основное значение в словарях это «believing that good things will happen or that a situation will get better» [Oxford Dictionary 2013: 376] (букв. верящий в хорошее, в то, что ситуация улучшится). В данном значении ему синонимичны прилагательное optimistic, hopeful, marked by optimism и их производные. Также, для выражения оптимистичного взгляда на жизнь и судьбу в английском языке есть выражения: to be disposed to look on the bright side, to be sanguine about something, to be quite hopeful, expecting the best, sanguine view, sanguine hopes, to be enthusiastic about, a Panglossian view и многие другие, а также их производные и близкие по значению слова. В процессе анализа выбранных текстов было выявлено, что в английском сборнике “English Fairy Tales” часто встречаются выражения со словами hope, happy, best, kind (в значении добрый), luck, bright, fortune, что создает общую позитивное настроение повествования, даже если оно порой трагично (например, в сказке «The Story of The Three Little Pigs» повествование заканчивается смертью волка в котле с кипящей водой, однако автор позитивно заканчивает повествование словами: «…so the little pig put on the cover again in an instant, boiled him up, and ate him for supper, and lived happy ever afterwards» отчасти снимая негативное впечатление, но для русского читателя это создает некую абсурдность данной ситуации)
Другие примеры выражения позитивного мышления в сборнике «English Fairy Tales»:

Нельзя не отметить, что одно из наиболее часто употребленных выражений этого сборника - to seek someone’s fortune. Oxford Dictionary дает следующее определение данному словосочетанию: «Travel somewhere in the hope of achieving wealth and success» (отправиться на поиски счастья). Позитивный настрой английских героев настолько ярко выражен, что смыслом жизни они видят поиски счастья и предпринимают все усилия (подтверждая деятельный тип своей культуры) чтобы его найти:
…one morning he started to go and seek his fortune. (How Jack Went To Seek His Fortune);
I will take it on my back, and we will go forth to seek our fortune. (Mr. Vinegar);
There was an old sow with three little pigs, and as she had not enough to keep them, she sent them out to seek their fortune. (The story Of Three Little Pigs);
Now, it happened in these days that King Arthur’s only son asked his father to give him a large sum of money, in order that he might go and seek his fortune in the principality of Wales… (Jack the Giant-Killer);
And she had two sons; and by-and-by it was time for the wife to send them away to seek their fortune (The Red Ettin) и другие. Интересно отметить тот факт, что слово fortune - многозначно, может переводиться как «удача, счастье» и как «материальное благосостояние», (Oxford Dictionary - 1. Luck, especially good luck. 2. A large amount of money or assets.), однако для английской культуры данные понятия практически равнозначны, таковы их культурные ценности.

В другом изученном сборнике сказок – «Mother Goose in Prose» - наиболее часто встречаются семантически позитивные выражения со словами: better, fortune, happy, laugh, hope.
Примеры:
You are a clever youth, and deserve a better life than that of a butler's lad («Sing a Song o' Sixpence»)
At the end of his pilgrimage was the great city, and he never doubted he would find therein proper work and proper pay, and much better treatment than he was accustomed to receive. («Sing a Song o' Sixpence»)
if you serve me faithfully I will advance your fortunes with your deserts. (– здесь опять игра слов: fortune имеет значения «счастье» и «богатство», поэтому некорректно переводить только одним из вариантов, возможно, подразумеваются оба понятия)
One day we´ll have something better for dinner than pork and beans («The Little Man and His Little Gun »)
He simply straddled the donkey and took the fiddle under his arm and rode out into the world to seek his fortune. (« Old King Cole»)
was feeling in an especially happy mood («The Story of Little Boy Blue»)
since it is true that every life can be so happy and no sorrow could creep in to temper it.(« The Story of Little Boy Blue»)

Помимо слов с семантическим значение, близким к «positive», ярким примером проявления позитивного мышления в тексте является тенденция давать завышенные оценки всему происходящему. Это, к примеру, выражается такими словами как: marvelous/ extremely kind/ so delighted/ fantastic/ genius/ perfect и другими. Для наглядности приведем примеры из наших источников:

Mrs. Vinegar, who was a perfect housewife (Mr. Vinegar)
When the king got home again, he was extremely happy to see his wife again, and his young son (Nix Nought Nothing)

Остановимся на нескольких примерах, потому что в данном виде литературы позитивно окрашенные слова встречаются очень часто, и невозможно уместить их все в одной работе. Их количество ярко иллюстрирует то, что positive thinking, присущее англоязычным культурам, ярко выражено даже в фольклорной литературе как английской, так и американской.
