Tamils kill two government soldiers
On Saturday Tamil guerrillas killed two government soldiers on the island of Sri Lanka. Representatives of the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry reported that militants of the «Tamil Tigers» had attacked the soldiers by a military base near the city of Jaffna in the north of the island. This attack violated a truce concluded three months ago between the government and the Tamil rebels to settle the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka.

Unrest in Burundi The Burundian Premier had to suspend his trip, on Saturday, around the devastated suburbs of the country's capital after shots had been heard near his car and those following him. Nonetheless, the Premier and his companions still managed to see the houses riddled with bullets and Granada fragments as well as dozens of corpses in the streets. All this was a consequence of bloody clashes which had recently taken place between the Tutsi and Hutu peoples, similar to those which had occurred a year ago in neighboring Rwanda.

Two People killed in Bihar (India)
On Saturday police in the Indian State of Bihar killed two people as they were trying to fill ballot boxes with faked ballot papers. The Press Trust of India News Agency reported that another two had lost their lives in shoot-outs between rival groups. The voting in Bihar closed the election campaign for India's local authorities. The ruling party of the Indian National Congress was beaten in the two states of Mahashira and Gujrat, and looks as though it will lose in Bihar too. General elections will be held in India in the middle of the next year.

The journalists were told that all the facilities in use there had been made in Iraq since the Gulf War.
