2. (for example) A lawyer is a person who is qualified to advise people about the law and represent them in court.
3. The main features of solicitors’ work are to give legal advice and prepare legal documents in connection with matters which do not necessarily come to court, such as buying a home, renting out one’s property, renting a home, making a will, getting a divorce, resolving problems at work, setting up in business. They also prepare cases for barristers to conduct in court.
4. The difference in functions of a barrister and a solicitor is that barristers work mainly in courts and tribunals, but solicitors don’t work in courts – they prepare cases for barristers.
