II. Translate the extract of the text.
Medical waste is treated at the medical waste neutralization unit at TCO's Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF). Steam and chemical disinfection are used instead of burning the medical waste. There are a number of advantages to this method as compared with the method of medical waste burning. These advantages are as follows: - absence of air emissions (compared to incineration); - absence of ground water impact (insignificant amount of waste goes through TCO existing treatment facilities); - absence of soil impact (material remaining after treatment is disposed at the lined landfill). In addition to the above, this method is risk free in terms of safety and loss prevention. Use of this unit meets all sanitary and hygienic requirements. Waste containing oil (oil based drilling cuttings, oily sludge) are generated during drilling operations and the treatment process for oil and gas. These wastes are sent for treatment to the thermal desorption unit. The thermal desorption unit treats waste through thermal decomposition. Then the hydrocarbons, water and solids are separated. Waste is put under high temperatures and hydrocarbons and water evaporate. Evaporating gases are captured and cooled with cold water. Gas turns into liquid and then goes through the system of separation of water and hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbons are sent for preparation of drilling muds and water is reused in the unit. Oily sludge results from oil treatment and is formed at the bottom of storage tanks and process equipment. Despite the variety of components of oily sludge they are generally characterized by a high concentration of hydrocarbons.
