Speech patterns

1.    Делать что-либо, не делая чего-либо:

He pointed without looking… Mr Flinch poured himself out some tea, without asking me. And without waiting for her answer he turned and left us.

2.    Чем когда-либо:

She hated it more than ever. He felt better than ever. Paul works harder than ever.

3.    С какой стати:

Why would anyone write about school? Why would I do a thing like that? Why would she go to them?

4.    Достаточно:

The man isn’t smart enough. She was lucky enough to get a job on television. She’s pretty enough to twist any man round her little finger.

5.    Так же, как и; ..., как:

My father knows as much as my teacher. He likes swimming almost as much as his brother. He worked as hard as the rest of the group. As merry as a cricket / grig – жизнерадостный, очень весёлый

Essential Vocabulary

1.    Stand

Ø Стоять:

To stand still/straight/motionless

To stand face to face

To stand with one’s back to smb.

To stand in one’s light – вредить самому себе (ещё to stand in one's own light)

To stand leaning against smth. – прислониться к ч-л

To stand in a line – выстроиться в ряд; стоять в строю, очереди
