Relationship between parents and children

1. Everyone says that youth is probably the best time of our life .2. That being young means love, friendship and romance, new discoveries and so on. 3. But it is also the most difficult time for making some very important decisions which will have influence on all our life. 4. Our time is not the easiest even for adults, but for teenagers who are to find own place in the society, is very difficult, that`s why parents must help their children solve youth problems and children should be a good and positive example for them showing how it is important to treat other people with respect. 5. I think that all these can really help construct good relationship between parents and children.6. But in our modern life there is often a lack of communication between parents and their children. 7. Lack of the love and attention to children can make them unhappy. 8. One can simply open the daily newspaper to find teenagers committing suicide or various crimes due to stress derived from family issues. 9. These incidents reveal the importance of parents` communication with their children. 10.  Love for their children is within every parent, which is frequently revealed through the concern they show. 11. But superfluous control can not in the best way influence on child. 12. Often children at school or in the street begin mock at this child. 13. Call him nondependent. 14. In result of this pressure child lose his temper and starts be rude, closed. 15. I think parents should not all the time control their children. 16. Sometimes they have to allow freedom.17. As for me, I get on very well with my parents. 18. Whenever I have problems with my friends or with or with my schoolwork, I know they are always there to listen and give advice. 19. They have taught me a lot. 20. They have got a lot of experience and they have always happy to share their knowledge with me. 21. But sometimes my Mum and Dad seem to think I`m still a kid. 22. When I go out with friends, I always have to be back home by ten o`clock and they call me on my mobile to check where I am. 23. I have to ask permission for almost everything I do. 24. It doesn`t seem fair sometimes but I anyway love my parents very much and I think they are the kindest in the whole world.

25. In conclusion, the ability to solve or avoid family problems depends on children and parents. 26. If the relationship between parents and children is based on love, mutual respect, and kindness, the family will be happy.

POEM

Leisure

What is this life if full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare?

No time to see, when woods we pass,

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see in broad daylight,

Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,

And watch her feet, how they can dance.

A poor life this is if full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.                                          by W.H.Davies

Hobbies

Part №1. What is a hobby?

    1. In the 16th century a favorite toy for children of all ages was the hobbyhorse. 2. In appearance a hobbyhorse could be as simple as a stick, or it could have a decorated wooden framework with an imitation horse's head attached. 3. Whether simple or elaborate, children used them for the games of the time involving war and knighthood, much as children in the early part of the 20th century played cowboys and Indians. 4. In time the popularity of the hobbyhorse declined, but the pleasure of doing something outside the routine activities of daily life had brought a new word into the language, the word hobby which is a shortened form of hobbyhorse. Hobbies today include a vast range of activities. 5. The definition that best covers all these activities is probably constructive leisure-time activities. 6. Hobbies differ like tastes. 7. If you have chosen a hobby according to your character and taste you are lucky because your life becomes more interesting. 8. Hobbies are divided into four large classes: doing things, making things, collecting things, and learning things. 9. The most popular of all hobby groups is doing things. 10. It includes a wide variety of activities, everything from gardening to travelling and from chess to volleyball. 11. Sport has always been popular in our country. 12. There are different sporting societies and clubs in Russia. 13. Many of them take part in different international tournaments and are known all over the world. 14. Our sportsmen take part in the Olympic Games and always win a lot of gold, silver and bronze medals. 15. Millions of people watch figure skating competitions, hockey and football matches, car races, tennis tournaments and other sports events. 16. Certainly watching sports events and going in for sports are two different things. 17. Now everybody knows that sport can be a profession and a business. 18. But sport can be fun as well. 19. Besides, it helps to stay in good shape, to keep fit and to be healthy.

                                                                                                                                                  с.2

Part №2. 1. Doing sports is becoming more and more popular. 2. Some people do it occasionally - swimming in summer, skiing or skating in winter - but many people go in for sports on a more regular basis. 3. They try to find time to go to a swimming pool or a gym at least once a week for aerobics or yoga classes, body building or just work-out on a treadmill. 4. Gardening is one of the oldest of man's hobbies. 5. It's a well known fact that the English are very fond of gardening and growing flowers, especially roses. 6. Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling, they travel to enjoy picturesque places, or just for a change of scene. 7. It's always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different musical rhythms. 8. Those who live in the country like to go to a big city and spend their time visiting museums and art galleries, looking at shop windows and dining at exotic restaurants. 9. City-dwellers usually like a quiet holiday by the sea or in the mountains, with nothing to do but walk and bathe and laze in the sun. 10. Most travellers and holiday-makers take a camera with them and take pictures of everything that interests them - the sights of a city, old churches and castles, views of mountains, lakes, valleys, plains, waterfalls, forests; different kind of trees, flowers and plants, animals and birds. 11. Later, perhaps years later, they will be reminded by the photos of the happy time they have had. 12. People travel by train, by plane, by boat and by car. 13. All means of travel have their advantages and disadvantages. 14. And people choose one according to their plans and destinations. 15. If we are fond of travelling, we see and learn a lot of things that we can never see or learn at home, though we may read about them in books and newspapers, and see pictures of them on TV. 16. The best way to study geography is to travel, and the best way to get to know and understand people is to meet them in their own homes. 17. Both grown-ups and children are fond of playing different computer games. 18. This is a relatively new hobby but it's becoming more and more popular. 19. Making things includes drawing, painting, making sculpture, designing costumes, handicrafts. 20. Two of the most famous hobby painters were President Eisenhower and Sir Winston Churchill. 21. Some hobbyists write music or play musical instruments. 22. Almost everyone collects something at some period in his life: stamps, coins, matchboxes, books, records, postcards, toys, watches. 23. Some collections have no real value. 24. Others become so large and so valuable that they are housed in museums and galleries. 25. Many worldfamous collections started in a small way with one or two items. 26. People with a good deal of money often collect paintings, rare books and other art objects. 27. Often such private collections are given to museums, libraries and public galleries so that others might take pleasure in seeing them. 28. No matter what kind of hobby a person has, he always has the opportunity of learning from it. 29. By reading about the things he is interested in, he is adding to what he knows. 30.Learning things can be the most exciting aspect of a hobby.
