Ex. 1. Write short forms (she’s / we’re, etc.).

“ There is ( are )” Construction
Ex . 9 . Use " there is ( are )" construction in the necessary tense form.
1. Look! … their telephone number in the letter. 2. Chichester is a very old town. … many old buildings there. 3. Excuse me, … a restaurant near here? 4. How many students … in your group? 5. I was hungry but … anything to eat. 6. … a football match on TV last night. 7. … many people at the meeting? 8. Look! … an accident. Call the ambulance! 9. … 24 hours in a day. 10. This box is empty. … nothing in it. 11. … somebody at the airport to meet you when you arrive tomorrow. 12. When we arrived at the cinema … a long queue outside.

Ex. 10. Ask questions to the following statements, then answer them according to the pattern.
Example: There is a good programme on TV tonight. Is there a good programme on TV tonight? –Yes, there is.
There aren’t any theatres in my town. Are there any theatres in your town?
– No, there are not/there aren’t
1. There is a cat in the window. 2. There are a few changes in the text. 3. There are plenty of glasses in the cupboard. 4. There were a lot of people at the stadium. 5. There isn’t anything on the plate. 6. There wasn’t anybody in the room. 7. There are difficult exercises in this book. 8. There is something on the shelf. 9. Ex. 11. Translate into English.
A. 1. У цьому журналі багато цікавих статей. 2. У нашому місті багато музеїв та театрів. 3. У твоїй кімнаті є телефон? 4. У цій кімнаті два вікна. 5. У чашці не було чаю. 6. – Скільки статей було в цьому журналі. – Тут було декілька цікавих статей. 7. Скільки студентів в аудиторії? – Двадцять. 8. Біля нашого будинку буде парк. 9. В. 1. Біля нашого дому є школа; Школа знаходиться біля нашого дому. 2. У місті декілька театрів; Театри знаходяться у центрі міста. 3. У вазі стояли квіти; Квіти стояли у красивій вазі. 4.
