Decomposition of set expressions and phraseological units



I. Discuss the manner in which a phraseological unit (or a compound word) is transformed (prolongation, change of one of the components, etc.).

1. They're coming – the Antrobuses. Your hope. Your despair. Your selves. (Th. W.)

2. Furthermore, the white man knows his history, knows himself to be a devil, and knows that his time is running out, and all his technology, psychology, science and "trick-nology" are being expended in the effort to prevent black men from hearing the truth. (J. B.)
