I think all people want to have a cosy home. What makes a house a home?

A home is a place where you can feel comfortable and safe. For me, a home is just an environment where you can be free and can be yourself. A place can also become a home with the people you surround yourself with.

My home is a place of safety, peace, and unity. A house is not a home, it is a place where you live, but a home is a place where you are comfortable and happy, a place where you can create a lot of positive, and maybe even not so positive memories. It is a place where you would be completely at peace with spending your life there.

What advice does the speaker give?

 Вопрос №3. Speaking

What can you tell me about your school?

Our school is situated in Lenina Street. It’s a very large school. Over 1,000 pupils from 6 to 17 attend it. Our school is old. It’s 50 years old. A 3-storeyed building consists of three wings: one for primary school and the others for secondary school. They are connected by a large light hall.

Our school is beautiful and well-planned. The classrooms are large and light. Pupils study different subjects there: Russian, Belarusian, English, Literature, Maths, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Music. All the classrooms are well-equipped. Besides, we have two computer classes, two gyms, a carpenter’s workshop and a tool workshop, two home economics rooms. As you see we have all facilities to acquire computer and trade skills, and to go in for sports.

Our Assembly Hall is on the ground floor. Different festivals, concerts, drama performances, competitions are held there.

On the first floor you can see a canteen, a café and a library. In the canteen we have meals: breakfast and lunch. In the library there are not only textbooks, but there is fiction, newspapers and magazines.

Our school provides high quality education. Our school teachers do their best to provide pupils with wide ranging knowledge and skills. They aim to provide learning for the new millennium and we appreciate it.

Have you decided what you will do after leaving school?

Yes, I have. I am leaving school soon and I’m thinking about possible careers and jobs. It’s very difficult to choose your future career because there are many alternatives and you don’t know where to start.

We usually say that all roads are open before our school-leavers. While at school I have changed my mind a lot of times.

I have decided to become an economist for many reasons. Firstly because of the economic situation in our country good experts are always required at all enterprises. Secondly, at school I liked lessons of mathematics and the English language most of all, what, in my opinion, it is necessary for my future speciality. I hope I’ll be able to get profound knowledge and practical skills when I become a university student. My true desire is to contribute to the process of bringing Belarus to market economy and turning it into a country with a high living standard.
