«Английские и русские пословицы как способ отражения национального быта и характера. Сходство и различие».
Обоснование темы: Пословицы и поговорки занимают важное место в языке и культуре народа, служат средством ознакомления с особенностями его национального характера, так как содержат в себе следы культурного многообразия, накопленного опыта одного конкретного этноса. Пословицы и поговорки выражают специфическое отношение народа к окружающим их предметам и явлениям, являются отражением материальной и духовной жизни народа.
Актуальность выбранной темы заключается, во-первых, в том, что данное исследование способствует освоению навыков перевода пословиц, как сложных единиц языка. Во-вторых, изучение пословиц и поговорок позволяет усовершенствовать произношение и расширить словарный запас. В третьих, данная работа помогает понять национальные особенности русского и английского народов.
В целом, нельзя не отметить, что пословицы многообразны, они находятся вне временного пространства. Действительно, в какое бы время мы не жили, они всегда останутся актуальными, приходящимися к месту. Правильное и уместное использование пословичных выражений придает речи неповторимое своеобразие и особую выразительность.

Цель нашего исследования – выявление национальных особенностей английского и русского народов с помощью пословиц и поговорок, и сходство и различие их перевода.
Для реализации поставленной цели были определены следующие задачи:
- определить популярность использования пословиц и поговорок в английском и русском языках;
- научить работать с разноязычными словарями;
- дать определение пословицы и поговорки;
- классифицировать пословицы и поговорки;
- изучить способы выражения основных ценностей посредством пословиц и поговорок;
- научить работать в сотрудничестве и представлять результаты своей исследовательской работы.
- проанализировать сходства и различия пословиц, поговорок в выражении национальных особенностей.

The theme of our project is “English and Russian proverbs and sayings
as the way of learning the national life and the national character. Similarity and Difference.”
We consider this theme is very up-to-date. First, proverbs and sayings are a great way to gain an insight into the English and Russian cultures and take a closer look at their folklore. Secondly, proverbs and sayings are words of wisdom, told and retold for centuries. They have been tested by time, and this is what makes them so priceless. Third,you will also increase your vocabulary and catch on some rhymes used in proverbs. Finally, it’s worth mentioning that proverbs and sayings are various, universal and actual in all times and circumstances. Using the right and appropriate proverbs and sayings makes your speech original and expressive.
The aim of the project
The main aim of the project is to find out how English and Russian proverbs and sayings reflect the national life and the national character and if they are actual and popular nowadays in both languages.
The objectives are:
· to study the popularity and interest in the English and Russian proverbs and sayings;
· to define the meanings of proverbs and sayings and their role in both languages;
· to find out the role of proverbs and sayings as the way of learning the national life and the national character;
· to analyze the similarity and difference in meanings and means of language of both English and Russian proverbs and sayings.
The Social Survey
Our project starts with the questionnaire aiming to study the popularity and interest in the English and Russian proverbs and sayings among the schoolchildren of Gymnasia. 100 respondents took part in it. Let us inform you on some references.

As a result we found out that 55 respondents (55 %) consider English and Russian proverbs and sayings to be actual and popular nowadays.
We felt excited to know that 78 respondents (78%) often use Russian proverbs and sayings in their speech. As for the English proverbs and sayings 57 respondents (57%) know them, but only 43 respondents (43%) sometimes use the proverbs and sayings in their speech.
It was pleasant to know that most of the respondents consider that some proverbs and sayings are easily understood than others. The proverbs, which have a metaphorical quality, whose meaning must be transferred from the literal plane, are not easy to the foreign ear. Easier to understand are the proverbs which are to be understood literally only.
