THE WRIGHT BROTHERS

The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, were two American brothers, inventors, and aviation pioneers ,who are generally credited with inventing, building, and flying the world's first successful airplane. Orville and Wilbur Wright disregarded several failed attempts to fly. And while their first attempt at flight failed, they were successful on December 17, 1903.Using a common glider airframe, they created the Kitty Hawk Flyer, named after the area on the Outer Banks of North Carolina where they tested their airplanes. They made the first controlled, sustained flight of a powered, heavier-than-air aircraft four miles south of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina and it lasted 12 seconds. This date can rightly be considered the date of birth of aviation. As a result, the Wright Brothers ushered in a new era of flightand the “air age” was born.
