A. Explain properties of living things.

Th GRADE BIOLOGY STATE EXAMINATION TICKETS   1.a.All living things are grouped (classified) according to their properties.   b.Which Kingdoms do you know? Protista, Animalia, Monera, Fungi, Planti.   c.Animal body is complex and has many systems, say 3 of them.Respiratory, Circulatory and Skeletal system.     2.a.Explain Fish (Pisces) and give examples. Most fish are cold-blooded, allowing their body temperatures to vary as ambient temperatures change, though some of the large active swimmers like white shark and tuna can hold a higher core temperature.   b.Explain amphibians.A cold-blooded vertebrate animal of a class that comprises the frogs, toads, newts, salamanders, and caecilians. They are distinguished by having an aquatic gill-breathing larval stage followed (typically) by a terrestrial lung-breathing adult stage.   c.Say general properties of Kingdom Protista.Protists are eukaryotic organisms that cannot be classified as a plant, animal, or fungus. They are mostly unicellular, but some, like algae, are multicellular. Kelp, or 'seaweed,' is a large multicellular protist that provides food, shelter, and oxygen for numerous underwater ecosystems. Even though kelp resembles a plant, it is not classified into Kingdom Plantae because it lacks the cellular complexity of plant cells.   3. a.Explain Invertebrates and give examples.Invertebrates are animals without backbones. This simple definition hides the tremendous diversity found within this group which includes protozoa (single-celled animals), corals, sponges, sea urchins, starfish, sand dollars, worms, snails, clams, spiders, crabs, and insects. In fact, more than 98 percent of the nearly two million described species are invertebrates. Ex: Arachnids;Arthropods ; Butterflies ; Cockroaches ; Corals ; Crustaceans ; Insects ; Mollusks ; Protozoa   b.Explain Arthropods and give examples. It mean join legs their body is 3 part head, tharax, abdomen. The three main classes of arthropods are: insectscrustaceansand arachnids. Arthropods present three distinguishing features: they are metameric organisms (segmented body).

C. Classify bacteria according to its’ Oxygen need.

According to their necessity of oxygen bacteria are classified into:-a) Anaerobic (those that survive without oxygen) andb) Aerobic (those that do not survive without oxygen).

4. a. Explain Mammals.A warm-blooded vertebrate animal of a class that is distinguished by the possession of hair or fur, females that secrete milk for the nourishment of the young, and (typically) the birth of live youngMammals are the vertebrates within the class Mammalia.

b. Explain Elephantiasis.Elephantiasis refers to a parasitic infection that causes extreme swelling in the arms and legs. The disease is caused by the filarial worm, which is transmitted form human to human via the female mosquito when it takes a blood meal. The parasite grows into an adult worm that lives in the lymphatic system of humans.

c. What is cell?Say main 3 main parts of it.All living things are made up of cells, (2) Cells are the smallest units (or most basic building blocks) of life, and (3) All cells come from preexisting cells through the process of cell division. Cells were first observed by the natural philosopher Robert Hooke in 1665.

5. a. Explain microscope.A microscope (from the Ancient Greek: μικρός, mikrós, "small" and σκοπεῖν, skopeîn, "to look" or "see") is an instrument used to see objects that are too small to be seen by the naked eye. Microscopy is the science of investigating small objects and structures using such an instrument. Microscopic means invisible to the eye unless aided by a microscope.

b. Animal body is complex and has many systems, say 3 of them.Respiratory, Circulatory and Skeletal system .

c. What is Euglena?Euglena is trying to create a brighter future using euglena. You will understand why we are so passionate about euglena if you can see its potential

6.a. Explain Mollusks and give examples. This phylum is attributed to 85,000 species with tens of thousands of extinct Mollusca species.Mollusks is one of the most fascinating and diverse animal groups on our planet. Although most people would recognize mollusks, it is also true that they may not know all their characteristics.

b. Explain amphibians.A cold-blooded vertebrate animal of a class that comprises the frogs, toads, newts, salamanders, and caecilians. They are distinguished by having an aquatic gill-breathing larval stage followed (typically) by a terrestrial lung-breathing adult stage.

c. What is lichen?Fungi and Algae together.

a. Explain properties of living things.

b. Explain Echinodermata and give examples.Echinoderms are animals that you must be knowing. If you know a starfish, then you are well aware of what an echinoderm is. Echinoderms are animals that are invertebrates. The name actually means spiny skin! All the animals in this phylum exhibit spiny skin and hence are grouped together. Let us find out more about them.                                                                                                                                                                         c. What is seedless plant?Plants which don't have seed and reproduce by spor.

8.a. Give an example for closed seed plant.Apple, peach, lemon, orange, grape.                                                                  b. Explain Birds.A warm-blooded egg-laying vertebrate animal distinguished by the possession of feathers, wings, a beak, and typically by being able to fly

c. What is the difference between monocots and dicots?Monocots have onecoteledon, diocots have two coteledon.

9. a. Economic importance of plants.Plants are extremely important in the lives of people throughout the world. People depend upon plants tosatisfy such basic human needs as food, clothing, shelter, and health care. These needs are growingrapidly because of a growing world population, increasing incomes, and urbanization.

b. Animal body is complex and has many systems, say 3 of them.Respiratory, Circulatory and Skeletal system

c. Say general properties of Kingdom Monera.Single celled, some are motile, some are autotrophs others obtain food from different organisms.
