VISIT TO MUSEUMS In the museum
Go to the school Assembly area in the Basement where you can leave coats and bags and organize your party into small groups of 10.
Ask for your activity sheets or tour, if booked. A guide will join each group and begin the tour.
We offer a number of tours on special topics - Introductory tour.
Are the animals real? Where do they come from? How do you get them? This tour is ideal for children visiting a museum for the first time.
The tour aims to show how the Museum collects, looks after and displays the natural history materials in its care.
Birds.This tour provides an introduction to bird life, and investigates bird characteristics, nests, eggs and a variety of birds from across the world.
Young animals.This tour looks in depth at different life cycles, and at how parental care affects a young animal's chances of survival.
Mammals.Your class will visit a number of the Museum's galleries on this tour. They will discover what mammals are and how they are adapted to living in a variety of habitats throughout the world.
Life in thesea. A tour in which your children can explore animals and plants from many of the world's oceans from the coasts to the ocean depths.
Activity sheets link with concepts and skills that are part of the National curriculum. The aim of the sheets is to structure the pupils' learning and aid the interpretation of the exhibitions.

TRAVELLING
Since ancient times there wei people who couldn't live for a lo time in one place. Their cherished с sire was to travel, because they want to trade with different countries or j see new far away places. Those, w, wish to travel, either for pleasure or business, have at their disposal various means of transport, instance, bicycles, motorcycles, motor-cars, boats, ships, ae planes, helicopters and others.
Some people prefer to make a journey in a car. It's es cially pleasant if the road is straight and smooth. You can set when you like, stop when and where you have a mind to and joy delightful spots rarely visited by other travellers.
Travelling by air is becoming more popular. Through it's expensive but it's the quickest means of transport. And if it is a good airliner you will hit few air-pockets and won't be airsick at all. The speed of sea liners, is good deal slower than that of planes. But when the holiday season is in full swing it's next to impossi to get accommodation on a liner.
If you are not much of a sailor you may get sea-sick in rough sea. But when the weather is fine and the sea is as smooi as glass your voyage will be wonderful. Most people go
train and consider it to be chei and more convenient.
First we try to buy tickets b forehand (in advance) and if nc we have to stand in (a) line at tl booking office to buy a ticket hour before the train arrives.
As a rule I buy a 2-nd class ticket. I pack my things, take suitcases, bags, (trunks, rucksacks) and go to the railway station where I find the platform, train and my car (carriage). I like to travel light but oftener I have a lot of luggage. When it is heavy I ask a porter to see to it. In a second-class sleeper we find our compartment and the porter puts the luggage on the rack and under the seat.

It doesn't matter if I have an upper or lower birth. I get bedding at once and look out of the window to wave good-bye to my friends who come to see me off.
Those who haven't bought anything to read, choose magazines, newspapers for the journey at the bookstalls.
When the train starts off I have a with my fellow passengers, have tea, a hasty meal or just look through the newspapers. Through travelling by train is not boring I am always glad when we reach our place of destination.
