GVDAMLTV03: MICROFINANCE FOR COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT



 

This project carries out farming activities in Vihiga,kakamega and Busia county.They Mainly work with groups of women to provide a means of gaining financial independence and stability. The local team has already supported over 100 Kenyan with small businesses ventures, such as bee keeping,chicken rearing,dairy farming and crop farming.

 Many struggle to find ways to escape the poverty trap, but this project helps by offering two approaches to lending: micro-finance cash loans and micro leasing. Join this project to see howmicro-finance works in the real world and learn about the challenges facing borrowers as well as micro-finance institutions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES,

Volunteers’ activities are determined each Monday during the weekly team meeting. Much of the work will require you to be on a computer, often completing spreadsheets, so a grasp of Excel is necessary. You will review applications from potential beneficiaries. With the local team, you will identify who meets the eligibility criteria, it will be challenging to decide who receives loans and who does not. You may be asked to write proposals for extra funding, enabling the project to reach out to more members of the community.

 

VOLUNTEER SKILLS

If you have a passion for finance, banking or lending, this is the project for you! Volunteers are expected to come with ideas to share with the project team in a constructive manner. Volunteers should have good Excel skills, as well as be open-minded and flexible.

Day 1: Arrival and pick upfrom the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, in Nairobi, Kenya and transfer to host family home or hostel.

Day 2: Morning: registration and start of orientation. About 4 hours lecture at the home of your host. Topics covered during orientation lecture will include East African culture, history, customs, politics, geography, and necessary health precautions, and various other topics, such as the diversity of Kenyan life. Afternoon is free for exploring rural Kenyan life and getting to know your host family.

Accommodation Accommodation is by host family, tap water and electricity available.

Project Fees 200 Euros per month or 600 Euros per 3 months

GVDAMLTV04: COMMUNITY HEALTH

Goldenlife International Naivasha is community hospital located in Maraigushu Sub location, (situated along Naivasha-Nakuru Highway in Kayole centre) Naivasha East location in Naivasha constituency, Nakuru County.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assisting in out-patient care of patients at Golden life hospital

· Assisting in the reception/customer care, laboratory, pharmacy and insurance departments.

· Taking in-patient related hospital continuous medical education and topic discussions

· Assisting in-patient wads care and management of patients.

· Assisting in maternity and delivery of mother and mother-baby care post-delivery.

· Assisting in specialized referral of patients who require special investigations.

· Assisting in Hospital cleanliness and infection prevention

· Assisting in hospital garden and cooking in the kitchen among many others

 

LEISURE TIME

Most of our free time will be spent visiting the lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru, fisherman’s camp if interested in camping, crayfish, and boat riding

Jambo Africa Tourism Organization Network is a community based organization based in western Kenya and headquatered in Bungoma.
