Dear guests and participants of the conference. Dear friends. Let me greet you at the international medical scientific applied conference “The Art of Living in XXI”.

Krasnoyarsk Center for Social Adaptation of the Population “The Art of Living” was established in 1998. For seven years the center has been carrying out educational anti-stress programs for all groups of the community. Volunteers from the Art of Living take an active part in charity events in the city and in the region and realize social projects:

● “Power in care” – the project for social adaptation of children from children’s homes № 59, №3, “Rodnichyok”; orphanages “Rostok”, “Nadezhda”; oncology department of the children’s regional hospital.

● “Stress relief in social adaptation of convicts and staff members in correction camps”. In 2003-2004 100 people did the Art of Living program including psychologists from the Correction Executive Authorities, staff members and convicts from camps № 36 and №22. In November 2004 at the federal contest of social projects Krasnoyarsk Center for Social Adaptation of the Population “The Art of Living” supported by political party “Yedinaya Rossia” (“United Russia”) won a grant for this project.

● Youth work: programs for aggression reduction in schools, colleges and universities; rehabilitation programs for risk group teenagers in the Center for provisional arrest of minor criminals.

● For two years Krasnoyarsk Center “The Art of Living” has been cooperating with Krasnoyarsk State Medical Academy in terms of organization of the international medical scientific applied conference “The Art of Living in XXI. Yoga. Ayurveda. Medicine”. In the limits of this project the Center took part in All Russia Medical Trade Fair “Yenissey – Medica 2004,2005”. At the international symposium “Physical Culture and Sport in Higher Education Institutions. Health Maintaining Technologies” (Krasnoyarsk, 2004) there was made the report “Teaching the Art of Living Yoga”. The report “ Social adaptation of the population according to the Art of Living program” was made at the seminar organized by the city authorities on planning community health in 2005-2010.

In April 2005 Krasnoyarsk Center “The Art of Living” jopined the Council of regional non-governmental organizations “Zdoroviy Mir” (“Healthy World”) under the patronage of the city mayor P. I. Pimashkov and contributed to promotion of healthy life style through participation in the city events: “Health Day”, “City Day”, “Be healthy, strong and beautiful”.

In June 2005 at the Department of Traditional Medicine there was organized a seminar held by Ayurveda doctor Nisha Manikantan “Basic Principles of Ayurveda and Manual Techniques”.

For two years scientists and teachers from Krasnoyarsk universities have conducted researches and are going to present you their results.

For support and contribution to organization of scientific applied conference “The Art of Living in XXI” Krasnoyarsk Center would like to thank sincerely regional and city authorities, the rector of KSMA Ivan P. Artyukhov, as well as all specialists of the Medical Academy and participants of the researches.

I would like to wish you to succeed and make new discoveries that will bring health and happiness to people worldwide.
