Химическая зависимость подразумевает привыкание к веществам, изменяющим сознание, в т.ч. к алкоголю. Существует общий, основной синдром зависимости, или привыкания, но каждая группа веществ имеет свои характерные особенности, проявляющиеся в состоянии интоксикации и после прекращения употребления, и эти особенности требуют изучения. Компульсивное (вынужденное) поведение – это действия, вызывающие интенсивное возбуждение, эмоциональное освобождение или изменение настроения, за которыми следуют длительные периоды боли или дискомфорта. Такое поведение может быть внутренним (мышление, представления, чувства) или внешним (работа, игра, разговоры, и т.д.) При компульсивном поведении возникают биопсихосоциальные паттерны (жесткие схемы), аналогичные основному синдрому зависимости, возникающему при употреблении веществ, создающих привыкание.
