Diary of a student’s work experience practice includes organisational issues, a list of practical skills to be acquired by trainees/interns.
The diary is intended for full-time 1st – 5th year students and 2nd – 6th year part-time/evening students specialising in «General medicine» at the Institute of Medicine
Published by decision of the Curriculum and Instruction Board of the Institute of Medicine of Ogarev Mordovia State University
The acquisition of practical medical skills is one of the stages in training future doctors and carried out during student’s work experience practical training/internship.
During the practical training a student consistently acquires and enhances diagnostic and treatment skills, carries out preventive measures.
The diary of practical training reflects a student’s practical activity in medical institutions of the Republic of Mordovia throughout his/her period of study at the University.
The filling of the diary begins with description of the practice’s premises and facilities, schedule of a working day at a hospital or out-patient clinic, night nursing at hospital units and ambulance stations.

The diary should give account of each day and every activity that the student was performing, was involved in, was watching; should give a clear idea about the degree of student’s independence when performing a particular job. The diary should give account of:
- clinical picture of diseases and surgeries of patients whom the student observed in the wards, out-patient clinic, during consultations, doctor’s home visits/house calls;
- participation in the implementation of curative services and surgeries, his/her work at maternity unit, etc.;
- preventive and educative activities;
- participation in grand rounds and operational meetings.
The diary should be completed on a daily basis and signed by the supervisor/head of practical training. It must be kept in store during the whole period of studies until state examinations session commences.

8. Process of presterilizing and sterilization of needles and syringes and other treatment tools.
