Talking about relationships. 10

Relationships are an important aspect of one's life. People can either benefit or suffer in life depending on the status of the relationship. A relationship between two people can have very different meanings. In some relationships such as two lovers, they can also be best friends because they share good communication. A relationship between a parent and child has a special bond because they share love, and affection for each other. However, there are times when a relationship can go bad because there is no understanding, lack of communication, and a feeling of distance in the relationship. I would like to talk a little bit about the relationship between man and woman. In my opinion it's an uneasy relationship. Which, in my opinion, should be the relationship between a man and a woman? I think this question every generation has responded in its own way. And the time and the moral standards of the time, and social system - all postponed its mark on the relations between man and a woman. And there initially uniform requirements that govern these relationships. They do not age with time, they are not affected by changes in society. For a guy of such moral values are attention, respect, the ability and desire to help her, to protect in difficult times, to support in difficult times. And yet - the ability to give joyful moments and good action, word, sometimes even a simple sweet gift. And most of all must be friendly respect for the girl - it was always an essential trait of a real man, boys, boy. From girls are also always required compliance with high moral requirements. The maiden measure of spirituality at all times considered the humility, dignity, respect for people, prudence in behavior. Perhaps, it is possible for a long time to enumerate those best character traits that help build good relations between a man and a woman. But back to our time. I think everyone noticed how some of the girls want to be like in its behavior to children. And then they wonder corresponding to them on the part of the young men: neglect, sometimes even anger, harsh speech, etc. In order between man and a woman were decent and good relations, it is necessary to remember each of the values of the appointment, which gave them life: always stay true men and women. PARTNERS. TALKING ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS11/ Relationships are how we relate to others. We have relationships with everyone we know and those who are close to us. Each and every interaction we have with another person is the act of relating. If we have a problem relating to others, it affects our ability to have supportive relationships. We have to ask ourselves if our relationships are supportive, and if they are not, then ask why they are not. Everyone wants the perfect romance or marriage, but not everyone looks at the mechanics of how to have one. If we fail to have supportive relationships in our life, how can we have the "perfect love" relationships? Through the act of supporting, we honour and validate who the other person is. This is turn, validates who we are. So, both are supported; no one loses; no egos are involved; and, so doing, we honour the relationship. This is what it means to have a supportive relationship. This is the desired goal. Now, how do we accomplish it? Our conduct patterns, 'positive' or 'negative' get set as we grow up. In order to clear a problem, one must identify the original cause which created a behavioral pattern, move through the experience of that situation and experience the emotions associated with it. The healing process is a time when we must be loving to the self. If we beat up the self about the experience which had caused us harm or our past reaction to it, then we cannot heal. In being loving to the self, we validate what we had experienced at that time. Our emotions are always valid. So, it is important for us to do this self-validation in order to heal. Love is the energy which helps us heal-whether we give this love to ourselves or receive it from another. Loving relations start with the self. When we look at having supportive relationship in our life, why not start with the self? Because that is where love comes from. This is what transforms our relationships and our lives. We must love the self first. And we cannot do that until we have healed and become whole. Spiritually we must rise, and our spiritual quotient must be high. For, it is not about what we can receive from love, but what we can contribute or give to love. The more we give, the more are the returns. LORD OF THE FLIES 11/ What kid did not fantasize, at one time or another, being left alone, completely unsupervised, for a long, long, LONG period of time? To be allowed to say or do whatever he pleased, whenever he pleased. To eat anything he wanted, to go to bed late, to not go to school, to act or behave as he pleased without reproach. To be his own adult. Usually those kind of thoughts permeated our little minds right after a heavy-duty punishment. In 1990's "Home Alone," we saw a broad, comical take on this fantasy. With 1963's "Lord of the Flies," we get to experience the flip side. "Lord of the Flies" was required reading in junior high school. William Golding's dark, sobering allegory, set during wartime London, tells the story of a large group of young schoolboys airlifted out of England who are left to their own devices after a plane crash leaves them marooned on an uninhabited isle with no surviving adults. As the boys struggle to adapt to their crude but strangely exotic "Robinson Crusoe" existence, the troop begins to splinter into two opposing sects after failing to come to terms on an autonomous code of ethics. Most of the boys decide to revel in their unsupervised freedom, reverting to primitive, animal-like behavior while resorting to barbaric acts and ritualistic practices. A conch shell becomes the embodiment of power; a boar's head a symbol of lordly conquest. On the other side, a minority group try to repel the tempting force of evil by forming a more civilized commune. Eventually the "survival of the fittest" factor sets in as the anointed leader of the hostile group incites violence to force an autocracy. Golding's fascinating premise certainly does not hold much hope for the future of mankind. We are conditioned as a people to be civilized; it is an acquired trait, NOT an inherent trait – according to the author. And if and when the shackles of goodness and purity are at any time removed to the extent that we are allowed to become our own social and moral dictator, we will invariably revert back to what comes naturally. And with a child, who has been less-conditioned, it will take little time at all. Evil is stronger, easier, and much more seductive. When playing "good guys and bad guys" as a kid, which did YOU prefer to be? Boasting a surprisingly natural cast of amateur actors and directed by radical stage director Peter Brook ("Marat/Sade"), this lowbudget British effort impressively captures much of the novel's back-to-nature symbolism that I found so powerful and fascinating. The young masters representing good and evil, James Aubrey ("Ralph") and Tom Chapin ("Jack"), effectively portray the resolute leaders of the two disparate tribes, while butterball Hugh Edwards as the bespectacled, philosophical "Piggy" and towheaded Tom Gaman as the quietly sensitive "Simon" are touching as two of the weaker followers who become likely targets of the surrounding chaos and burgeoning brutality. What I love most about this cast is that they act like little boys, not little actors, grounding their often awkward actions and behaviors in reality. Trivia note: one of the secondary boy players is none other than Nicholas Hammond, who went on to play young Friedrich in the film classic "The Sound of Music" two years later. Brook's use of grainy black-and-white photography, plus the lack of any comprehensive musical score (remember Tom Hanks' "Castaway"?), accentuates the bleakness of its surroundings and feelings of isolation. The movie can hardly be expected to capture fully every single intention of this highly complex novel (most don't), but it does respect Golding's words and captures the very essence of what he wanted to say. For that alone it should be applauded. By the way, don't waste your time on the 1990 color remake featuring "professionals" like Balthazar Getty. The poetic beauty is all but dissipated in this haphazard, jarringly Americanized update. It makes me worship Peter Brook's version even more. And what story could BE more disturbing yet topical than "The Lord of the Flies" as it applies to today's "latch-key" society? THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION 11/ The future of education is very promising to younger generations. From Kindergarten though college many changes are brewing. On the horizon are things like smart objects, full-length online courses, and prosthetic devices designed to equalize education. Online courses soon will prevail over the traditional high school and college education. Online Universities will create classes sponsored by companies. These companies will direct the universities on the materials of the course. The company will then offer those who pass the course a job. This will created a skilled worked specifically for a position in a company. Teachers will take a backseat in these courses. Teachers will offer one-on-one help and help people work collaboratively. These teachers will be more of a guide then a true classroom teacher. Also on the horizon are smart objects. These objects are geared more to small children then those in high school or college. Objects with animations such as building blocks that can talk and light up to indicate to a child how to stack them correctly. Objects that will test a child’s spelling and reading skills. Smart books and tools that require a child to listen and react. Another development is in the area of prosthetics. These new prosthetics are uses to make education equal for all children. They have recently developed an implant for children with hearing disabilities. Microelectronic lenses are being designed now for those with reading and sight problems. No longer will a child be left behind because or his or her disability. All education for children with be as equal as possible. As you can see the future for the education world is bright. There are many developments to make education more efficient, simpler, and equal for all from kindergarten to college. DEATH OF A SALESMAN. 12/ Death of a Salesman is a 1949 play written by American playwright Arthur Miller. It was the recipient of the 1949 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play. The play premiered on Broadway in February 1949, running for 742 performances, and has been revived on Broadway four times. winning three Tony Awards for Best Revival. It is considered to be one of the greatest plays of the 20th century   Willy Loman returns home exhausted after a cancelled business trip. Worried over Willy's state of mind and recent car accident, his wife Linda suggests that he ask his boss Howard Wagner to allow him to work in his home city so he will not have to travel. Willy complains to Linda that their son, Biff, has yet to make good on his life. Despite Biff's promising showing as an athlete in high school, he flunked senior-year math and never went to college. Biff and his brother Happy, who is temporarily staying with Willy and Linda after Biff's unexpected return from the West, reminisce about their childhood together. They discuss their father's mental degeneration, which they have witnessed in the form of his constant indecisiveness and schizophrenic daydreaming about the boys' high school years. Willy walks in, angry that the two boys have never amounted to anything. In an effort to pacify their father, Biff and Happy tell their father that Biff plans to make a business proposition the next day. The next day, Willy goes to ask his boss, Howard, for a job in town while Biff goes to make a business proposition, but both fail. Willy gets angry and ends up getting fired when the boss tells him he needs a rest and can no longer represent the company. Biff waits hours to see a former employer who does not remember him and turns him down. Biff impulsively steals a fountain pen. Willy then goes to the office of his neighbor Charley, where he runs into Charley's son Bernard (now a successful lawyer); Bernard tells him that Biff originally wanted to do well in summer school, but something happened in Boston when Biff went to visit his father that changed his mind. Happy, Biff, and Willy meet for dinner at a restaurant, but Willy refuses to hear bad news from Biff. Happy tries to get Biff to lie to their father. Biff tries to tell him what happened as Willy gets angry and slips into a flashback of what happened in Boston the day Biff came to see him. Willy had been having an affair with a receptionist on one of his sales trips when Biff unexpectedly arrived at Willy's hotel room. A shocked Biff angrily confronted his father, calling him a liar and a fraud. From that moment, Biff's views of his father changed and set Biff adrift. Biff leaves the restaurant in frustration, followed by Happy and two girls that Happy has picked up. They leave a confused and upset Willy behind in the restaurant. When they later return home, their mother angrily confronts them for abandoning their father while Willy remains outside, talking to himself. Biff tries unsuccessfully to reconcile with Willy, but the discussion quickly escalates into another argument. Biff conveys plainly to his father that he is not meant for anything great, insisting that both of them are simply ordinary men meant to lead ordinary lives. The feud reaches an apparent climax with Biff hugging Willy and crying as he tries to get Willy to let go of the unrealistic expectations. Rather than listen to what Biff actually says, Willy appears to believe his son has forgiven him, and after Linda goes upstairs to bed, (despite her urging him to follow her), lapses one final time into a memory of Biff's football career before exiting the house. Biff and Linda cry out in despair as the sound of Willy's car blares up and fades out. The final scene takes place at Willy's funeral, which is attended only by his family, Bernard, and Charlie. The ambiguities at the funeral of mixed and unaddressed emotions persist, particularly over whether Willy's choices or circumstances were obsolete. At the funeral Biff retains his belief that he does not want to become a businessman like his father. Happy, on the other hand, chooses to follow in his father's footsteps, while Linda laments her husband's decision just before her final payment on the house... "...and there'll be nobody home. We're free and clear, Willy....we're free...we're free..." TALKING ABOUT FILMS 13 The movies are truly an art of our time. It is the greatest aesthetic and educational force in the world today. The invention of the photography in 1828 played a very important role in the development of the cinema. 1895 became the year when the cinema was born. After the brothers Lumier had invented the cinematography, the cinema widely spread all over the world. The first movie theatres appeared in 1904. And in 1907 the literature works started to be widely used for the movie scripts. The movies are a powerful force in contemporary life. Cinema is also used for educational purposes. Video classes are useful when studying geography, foreign languages and many other subjects. They are also the means of getting acquainted with the world. With the help of documentary and science films one can get much information about the world around. The news on TV helps to know what happens in the world each day. It also helps to attract the attention of people to different important problems, such as hunger, earthquakes, water pollution and so on.The cinema is also the means of entertainment. Movies play an important role in my life and of course I like to go to the cinema. As for me it is an available popular form of art, I find visiting cinemas is one ofthe best ways of spending my free time. And everyone can choose his favorite genre of film. There are such genres of feature films like a thriller, a musical, adrama and a comedy. To my mind movies extend our knowledge about people, about the world we live. Everyone knows that we live in a very difficult timenowadays..I love movies so it is quite hard for me to choose my favourite.I think the one that impressed me the most is “Gone with the Wind”. As it is seen from the title the film was based on the Margaret Mitchell’s novel with the same name. The film was premiered on December 15, 1939 in Atlanta, where the main action of the film takes place. The film won 8 Oscars and it remained a record for a long time. The action dates back to 1861, to the eve of the Civil War in America. On the cotton plantation called Tara a young girl Scarlett is in love with her neighbour Ashley. Scarlett is amazingly beautiful, strong and purposeful. She learns Ashley is going to merry another girl. This news overshadows even the upcoming war. Scarlett’s father explains she will find a more appropriate boy to merry. The War breaks all the plans. Ashley goes to the front. Scarlett’s joy is gone. This cute and a little naive girl has no idea what difficulties and trials the fate has prepared for her. The war makes her stronger and more courageous. After a while Scarlett meets another love, Captain Rhett Butler. It is a confrontation of feelings and characters. But it is a true love, which is sure to overcome all obstacles and teach patience and understanding between those who want to love and be loved. The film depicts an example of true feelings and a strong-willed female character. These two issues attract viewing audience. But the reason why I especially like the film is its starring actors. They are Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable. These famous Hollywood actors gave a wonderful performance of their characters of Scarlet O’Hara and Rhett Butler. And there is no doubt that a good film gives us an excellent entertainment.. One of the relatives of the groom puts on the bride's ring finger ring. After that arranged bride future bride, guests take it for ransom. On this day, in the evening in the room where guests sit, introduce the bride, accompanied by daughters in law, that asks a ransom for the bride. Daughter in law of the groom to the bride wears a ring, necklace and earrings. This is the beginning of betrothal. Singer accompanied by saz or dombra sing ceremonial songs "Той Бастар". They begin to dance only relatives of the groom. Village elders bless the young and prescribe the exact day of the wedding. On the night before the wedding the bride gather girlfriends. Girly gatherings lasted until morning. At this time, preparing for the wedding: baursaks bake, cakes, various sweets, slaughtering a sheep, preparing kuyrdak. In the morning the groom's relatives drove up to the house of the bride, but she was at the time located in a neighboring house. For neighbors covered tables in the yard. After refreshments relatives of the bride and groom dancing until ready main feast - besbarmak. Then the bride is introduced into the courtyard of the singing. Ahead of the march - one of the relatives of the bride. Bridesmaids (usually six men) dressed in dress, style and color that selects the bride and her mother paid the cost. One of the bridesmaids is paramount. She carried a bouquet of the bride during the ceremony and the wedding was located behind it. The best man (usually a brother, a relative or friend of the groom) helped organize the wedding, the fee paid to the priest, and handed the ring to the groom in the church. On the morning of the wedding day all of these persons were going to the house of the future bride and groom. Home girlfriend white flowers adorned the entrance. The bride was not supposed to do that. It was believed that her family life in such a case will be unsuccessful. The church went, accompanied by musicians singing. Interspersed with the songs, which have repeatedly mentioned the garter from the toilet of the bride, wedding male participants train hard shot from guns. It was to scare off evil force. It was considered bad sign if, during the wedding began chimes, so usually we waited at the entrance while they pierce. Before entering the church first observed many ancient traditions: the bride and groom jumped over the bench, delivered across the entrance to the church and they symbolized overcoming all obstacles in the future family life. During the wedding feast main role was assigned pie. The wedding is usually never ended without a cake. Cut it was the bride. The feast could last several days, but not more than a week, and the means of themselves invited. After the feast the bride is sent to your new home. If she stumbled on the threshold, it is regarded as an ominous sign. Therefore, usually the groom took her in his arms and swept over the threshold. Then girlfriends accompanied her into the bedroom and put to bed. The day after the wedding, the couple began to live separate family, without depending on anyone. LANGUAGE AND SOCIETY 15/ Language is defined as a means of human communication. This is one of the possible definitions of language is glavnoe, because the language is not characterized in terms of its organization, structure, and so on. DESCRIBING CHANGE 16/7 Man has to pass through many stages of life, since he is born until he dies. He passes through infancy, childhood, boyhood, youth, middle age and old age. Childhood continues from the 6th to the 12th year of age. Boyhood continues from the 12th to the 19th year of age. Youth lasts from the 20th to 35th year of age. Middle age lasts from the 36th to the 55th year of age. Old age continues from 56th year until death. Of all the stages of life childhood is the most important. Because it is the formative period of life. It is also the first conscious stage of life. Childhood is one of the growing stage in man’s life. The human beings grow up to 24th year of age. So, the health of the child should be properly looked after. He should be given balance diet. He should be encouraged to from healthy habits like early rising. He should be taught to be neat and clean, to do exercise regularly, to eat, sleep, read and play at habits. He should be kept happy and cheerful. All these will help him to grow healthy in body and mind. I believe that childhood is the happiest time because first children at that age do not have any special responsibility, and second they are children and their mind and the way they think completely different from teenagers and adults. In other words, their minds are free. First, as a child you do not have to take any noticeable responsibility. You just play and enjoy your daily life. A child does not get into the troubles of for example studying, going to work or even having family duties like a father or mother. In case of everyday life, matures are dealing with a lot of chores and duties. Take the case of a mother for instance, she should have to take care of the house, do the daily chores such as cooking, ironing, cleaning and boring duties like that. Moreover, she has to look after of her child or children too. Considering that she does not have to work like her spouse outside the house. Children's most important concern would be the size of their bicycle or the number of their toys they possess. Second, as a child your mind is largely free from many things which may cause challenge such as political or financial issues. Furthermore, in that period they tend to make friends much easier unlike teenagers. The things they are looking in a friendship are not materialistic. The purpose of make a link with their peers would not be for using them in further critical situations. They simply make friends to play with each other or to share their toys. Beside mentioned points, their needs are not much complicated. They would become easily happy by giving them a notebook and bunch of color pencils as if they are given a luxury car or a high-ranked position in a company. In conclusion, I consider the childhood time as the most memorable and happiest for everyone mostly because at that age, our expectations from life and other people around us are very simple and would not cause anyone trouble. PROTEST SONGS. RADIO PROGRAMME ABOUT THE SONG STRANGE FRUIT. 17 "Strange Fruit" is a song performed most famously by Billie Holiday, who first sang and recorded it in 1939. Written by teacher Abel Meeropol as a poem and published in 1937, it protested American racism, particularly the lynching of African Americans. Such lynchings had reached a peak in the South at the turn of the century, but continued there and in other regions of the United States. Meeropol set it to music and, with his wife and the singer Laura Duncan, performed it as a protest song in New York venues in the late 1930s, including Madison Square Garden. Barney Josephson, the founder of Cafe Society in Greenwich Village, New York's first integrated nightclub, heard the song and introduced it to Billie Holiday. Other reports say that Robert Gordon, who was directing Billie Holiday's show at Cafe Society, heard the song at Madison Square Garden and introduced it to her. Holiday first performed the song at Cafe Society in 1939. She said that singing it made her fearful of retaliation but, because its imagery reminded her of her father, she continued to sing the piece, making it a regular part of her live performances. Because of the power of the song, Josephson drew up some rules: Holiday would close with it; the waiters would stop all service in advance; the room would be in darkness except for a spotlight on Holiday's face; and there would be no encore. During the musical introduction, Holiday stood with her eyes closed, as if she were evoking a prayer. Holiday approached her recording label, Columbia, about the song, but the company feared reaction by record retailers in the South, as well as negative reaction from affiliates of its co-owned radio network, CBS. When Holiday's producer John Hammond also refused to record it, she turned to her friend Milt Gabler, whose Commodore label produced alternative jazz. Holiday sang "Strange Fruit" for him a cappella, and moved him to tears. Columbia gave Holiday a one-session release from her contract so she could record it; Frankie Newton's eight-piece Cafe Society Band was used for the session. Because Gabler worried the song was too short, he asked pianist Sonny White to improvise an introduction. On the recording, Holiday starts singing after 70 seconds. Gabler worked out a special arrangement with Vocalion Records to record and distribute the song. Holiday recorded two major sessions of the song at Commodore, one in 1939 and one in 1944. The song was highly regarded; the 1939 record sold a million copies, in time becoming Holiday's biggest-selling record. In her autobiography, Lady Sings the Blues, Holiday suggested that she, together with Meeropol, her accompanist Sonny White, and arranger Danny Mendelsohn, set the poem to music. The writers David Margolick and Hilton Als dismissed that claim in their work Strange Fruit: The Biography of a Song, writing that hers was "an account that may set a record for most misinformation per column inch". When challenged, Holiday—whose autobiography had been ghostwritten by William Dufty —claimed, "I ain't never read that book." DESCRIBING FEELINGS.18 Feelings and emotions are closely connected with our inner qualities, they are simply a reflection of what is happening within us. We are often afraid to deny their emotions, confusing emotions with feelings, emotions with states. Not only our feelings and emotions are not recognized by themselves, but also their causes remain a mystery for many. Sharing of feelings is good and an essential way to express how we feel. We all experiences different kinds of feelings, there are three different ways that people use to express them. One is withholding the other is displaying them, but the most effective way is describing them. Withholding means the person don’t share with others what he or she feels. Their body languages don’t show an interest or disinterest. They basically deal with their feelings, but this can cause that the person develop physical and mentally disorders, and they are more likely to be cold and serious persons. Withholding is only better when the situation is inconsequential. The second way that people used to disclose their feelings is displaying them. Their bodies change depending of the situation their face, the body and tone of voice react different. They are more appropriate to disclose when the feelings you are experiencing are positive, but display can also be harmful in special occasions when a negative display appears to be an overreaction, but negative displays can help psychologically the person. The best way to disclose feelings is by describing how you feeling into words. It is easy to confuse describing feelings with displaying feelings, but they are totally different. People normally don’t describe their feelings, there are four reasons. The have poor vocabulary and they don’t know the right words to use. They don’t like to let others know how exactly they feel, because they think the other person can use that information to hurt them. Another reason is that they fear that others might criticize them for having such feelings, and the last reason is they might feel that they can cause problems to a relationship, but people feel more comfortable and easy describing positives feelings.   TALKING ABOUT CHILDHOOD. 19   Love childhood... Who of you regret sometimes about this age when the laughter on the lips forever, but my heart is always the world? (J.J. Russo) Childhood - the most beautiful and carefree time. Only we realize it when become adults. Childhood - the basis of our lives. Small, we react to the world differently than adults we do not adapt, not hypocrisy, we openly express their opinions. "Lips of an infant has spoken the truth" - so they say. Growing up, we start in a different way to evaluate the world around us, the people. We become more pragmatic, not so naive, sometimes become indifferent and selfish. But what is built into us since childhood, stays with us forever. "Man begins in childhood. It occurs in childhood crop of good, "- said M.Mukanov. And only a few years it will be clear whether the seeds appeared good germinating weeds or evil destroyed them. The task of each of us - to make germinated seeds of good that have been laid by our parents, relatives, family members and teachers.   My earliest childhood memories are connected with family. I remember waiting for my whole family New Year's, birthdays. Human childhood escorted holidays that its beauty, solemnity make life more colorful, making it the diversity and joy. Of course, my childhood is associated with gifts. Some of them I keep still, because they are dear to me as a memory of unforgettable fun and happy days. Sometimes when I have a melancholy mood, I, as often happens in childhood, beginning to lay out their favorite toys, and talk to them. Maybe to some it may seem strange, but the memories of something good, fun is always uplifting. I remember how we, the kids, were well-dressed, happy in the first class. We consider ourselves already large because they have become students. We accompanied all of our family and wished a safe journey. I remember the first lesson, and the teacher's words, "Hello, children!" And from lesson to lesson, from class to class, in school 4everyday life, we have discovered and mastered the higher values of life. Now, seeing little first-graders, recalls his first days at school and compare ourselves with them. We, too, were the same agile, restless, sometimes confused, sometimes excessively curious. We no longer wanted to play, relax, what to prepare for lessons. And now we, the students, love to have fun, fool around. We each have about children's memories remained different, but unites us is our carefree, happy, happy childhood. We - on the threshold of adulthood. What will be our future? One would like to repeat the words of the famous song: "My childhood, wait, do not hurry, wait. Give me the answer is simple, there in front. "What awaits us in challenging the adult world? Will we remain human beings? What we are going and what we are going? These questions are difficult to answer.
