Description of a picture:

Ivan the Terrible and his Son Ivan” by I. E. Repin

I’d like to describe a picture “Ivan the Terrible and his Son Ivan” by I. E. Repin. This picture is devoted to the relations between the father and his son. I think that the plot of this painting is very terrible and horrible. I never thought that father could kill his son himself. It’s a tragedy and we can feel the tragic atmosphere everywhere.

In the center of this painting we can see two figures. They are Ivan the Terrible and his son. They are lying on the floor. The father holds the bloody head of his son by his hand.

The canvas is made in very dark colors. The painter used red, orange, black, brown colors to underline the horror of the action.

There are many details here to which we should pay attention. First, look at the father’s eyes. They are very big and it seems to me that he understands quite well what he has just done. The son is dying. His eyes cannot express anything, only the question “what for?” We can see the carpets on the floor. They are tousled. It proves that they had fight. But now we understand the son’s humbleness and we cannot do anything. The picture made a great impression upon me.

Morning in the Pine Wood” By I. Shishkin

I’d like to describe a picture “Morning in the Pine Wood” By I. Shishkin. It is the world famous painting of Russian art. The painter shows us the deep forest and depicts the nature very thoroughly. The canvas is made in bright colors. As you see, it’s morning. The sun begins to shine and you can see the sunny rays in the forest.

In the background we see the trees, a lot of trees. In the foreground we can see three little bears and their mother. Do you know that three little bears and their mother were added by another painter? It’s Konstantin Appolonovich Savitski.

Creating this picture, the artist wanted to underline the calmness of the morning wood. While I’m watching at this painting, I feel quite well the atmosphere of the morning. It seems to me that I stand near that broken tree and I’m afraid to frighten bears.

There are many details here to which we should pay attention. We can see many branches on the ground, broken trees, rising sun. These details help us to understand that nobody visits this place.

The painter is a real master of his art. The picture made a great impression upon me.

Seascape” by Aivazovsky

I’d like to describe a picture “Seascape” by Aivazovsky. I think it’s very romantic picture. To my mind it’s devoted to the topic of love, parting and expectation of course. It is connected with the sea. As you know Aivazovsky created only seascapes.

The canvas is made in tender colors, because it’s morning and in the morning everything seems beautiful. In the background we see the ship. I suppose this ship waits for a young man who is on the seashore.

In the foreground we can see a young couple and a little boat. The man and the woman say good bye to each other, because the man is a sailor and he must leave her. As for her she must stay alone and wait him. I think it’s very touching and the man in a boat cannot disturb their privacy.

The artist created this atmosphere quite well and we can understand the feeling of the people on the seashore very well too.

I believe that Aivazovsky is a real master of his art. The picture made a great impression upon me.
