The Sun of Reality is the Divine Word 13 страница

Baha-ullah

1.

Glory to Thee, O my God!

2.

One of thy handmaidens, who hath believed in Thee and in Thy signs,

hath entered beneath the shadow of the tree of Thy union.

3.

Give her to quaff, O my God, by Thy Name, the Manifest and the Hidden,

of Thy choice sealed Wine [of Certitude] that it may take her away from her ego,

and make her to be entirely devoted to Thy remembrance,

and totally detached from anybody beside Thee.

4.

Now that Thou hast taught unto her the knowledge of Thee, O my Lord,

deny her not, by Thy bounty, and Thy grace;

5.

and now that Thou hast called her unto Thee,

drive her not away from Thee, through Thy good favor.

6.

Supply her, then, with that which excelleth all that can be found on Thine earth.

7.

Thou art, verily, the Most Bountiful, whose grace is immense.

8.

Wert Thou to bestow on one of Thy creatures what would equal the kingdoms of earth and heaven,

it would still not diminish by even as much as an atom the immensity of Thy dominion.

9.

Far greater art Thou than the Great [Lord] men are wont to call Thee,

for such a title is merely one of Thy names,

all of which were created by a mere indication of Thy will.

10.

There is no God except Thee,

the God of power, the God of glory,

the God of knowledge and wisdom.

Baha-ullah

1.

Thou seest, O my God, how the wrongs committed by such of Thy creatures

that have turned their backs to Thee,

and have come in between Him in Whom Thy Godhead is manifest and Thy servants.

2.

Send down upon them, O my Lord,

what will cause them to be busied with each others' concerns.

3.

Let, then, their violence be confined to their own selves,

that the land and they that dwell therein may find peace.

4.

One of Thy handmaidens, O my Lord,

hath sought Thy face, and soared in the atmosphere of Thy pleasure.

5.

Withhold not from her, O my Lord,

the things Thou didst ordain for the chosen ones among Thy handmaidens.

6.

Enable her, then, to be attracted by Thine utterances

so that she will celebrate Thy praise amongst them.

7.

Potent art Thou to do what pleaseth Thee.

8.

No God is there but Thee, the Almighty,

whose help is implored by all men.

Baha-ullah

PRAYERS FOR THE YOUTHS TO PRAY

1.

O Thou kind Lord!

From the horizon of detachment Thou hast manifested souls that,

even as the shining moon, shed radiance upon the realm of heart and soul,

2.

and rid themselves from the attributes of the world of existence

and hastened forth unto the kingdom of immortality.

3.

With a drop from the ocean of Thy loving-kindness

Thou didst oft-times moisten the gardens of their hearts

until they gained incomparable freshness and beauty.

4.

The holy fragrance of Thy divine unity was diffused far and wide,

shedding its sweet savors over the entire world,

causing the regions of the earth to be redolent with perfume.

5.

Raise up then, O spirit of Purity, souls who, like those sanctified beings,

will become free and pure,

will adorn the world of being with a new raiment and wondrous robe,

6.

will seek no one else except Thee,

tread no path except the path of Thy good pleasure

and will speak of naught but the mysteries of Thy Cause.

7.

O Thou kind Lord!

Grant that this youth may attain unto that which is the highest aspiration of the holy [servants].

8.

Endow him with the wings of Thy strengthening grace,

wings of detachment and divine aid,

9.

€”that he may soar thereby unto the atmosphere of Thy tender mercy,

be able to partake of Thy celestial bestowals,

may become a sign of divine guidance and standard of the Concourse on high.

10.

Thou art the Potent, the Powerful, the Seeing, the Hearing.

Baha-ullah

PRAYER FOR HUQUQU'LLAH

(the Right of God = Tithes)

Huquq-ullah is the semi-voluntary tithe and tax, much like tithing to the Church, the shekel offering at the Synagogue, and the Zakat of Islam. The Bahai tithe is officially voluntary, yet technically is mandatory before God and the worlds.

1.

Huququ'llah is indeed a great law.

2.

It is imperative upon all to make this offering,

because it is the source of grace, abundance, and of all good.

3.

It is a bounty which shall remain with every soul in every world of the worlds of God,

the All-Possessing, the All-Bountiful.

Baha-ullah

1.

Magnified art Thou, O Lord of the entire creation,

the [Lord] unto Whom all things must turn.

2.

With my inner and outer tongues

I bear witness that Thou hast manifested and revealed Thy [Lordship],

sent down Thy signs, and proclaimed Thy testimonies.

3.

I testify to Thy sufficiency from anything else except Thee,

and Thy sanctity above all earthly things.

4.

I entreat Thee by the transcendent glory of Thy Cause,

and the supreme potency of Thy Word,

5.

to grant confirmation unto them who desireth

to offer what Thou prescribed unto them in Thy Book,

and to observe that which will shed forth the fragrance of Thine acceptance.

6.

Verily Thou art the All-Mighty,

the All-Gracious, the All-Forgiving, the All-Generous.

Baha-ullah

1.

Glorified art Thou, O my compassionate Lord!

2.

I entreat Thee by the tumult of the ocean of Thy holy utterance,

and by the manifold tokens of Thy supreme sovereignty,

and the compelling evidences of Thy Divinity,

and the hidden mysteries that lie concealed within Thy knowledge,

3.

to give my Thy grace to serve Thee and Thy chosen ones,

and enable me to dutifully offer Thy Huquq which Thou hast ordained in Thy Book.

4.

I am [thine servant], O my Lord, who hath set his affections on Thy realm of glory,

and hath clung tenaciously to the hem of Thy generosity.

5.

O Thou Who art the Lord of all being and the Ruler of the kingdom of names,

I beseech Thee not to deny me the things thou dost possess,

nor to withhold from me that which Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen [servants].

6.

I implore Thee, O Lord of all names and Creator of the heavens,

to assist me to be steadfast in Thy Cause, through Thy strengthening grace,

7.

in such wise that the vanities of the world may not suffer me to be shut out as by a veil,

nor to be hindered by the violent commotions of the wicked-doers

who have risen up to lead Thy people astray in Thy days.

8.

Destine for me then, O [God], my heart's Desire,

[that is,] the good of this world and the world hereafter.

9.

Verily Thou art powerful to do as Thou willest.

10.

No God is there except Thee,

the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Generous.

Baha-ullah

PRAYERS FOR CERTAIN OCCASIONS

PRAYERS FOR THE FAST OF RIDVAN

[Ridvan, pronounced 'rizvan' = 'garden' or 'paradise', are holy days to celebrate verdant Spring.]

The Kitab-i-Aqdas [the tablet of the Most Holy] states:

"We have commanded you to pray and fast from the beginning of maturity [at 15 years];

this is ordained by God, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers....

The traveler, the ailing, those who are with child or giving suck, are not bound by the fast....

Abstain from food and drink, from sunrise to sundown,

and beware lest desire deprive you of this grace that is appointed in the Book."

The period of the Fast is March 2 through March 20,

ending on Naw Ruz, the Persian New Year's day.

1.

This is, O my God, the first of the days

on which Thou hast bidden Thy loved ones to observe the Fast.

2.

I ask of Thee by Thy name

and by him who hath fasted out of love for Thee and for Thy good-pleasure

3.

and not out of ego and desire,

nor out of fear of Thy wrath and by Thy most excellent names and august attributes,

4.

to purify Thy servants from the love of anything except Thee

and to draw them nigh unto the Dawning-Place of the lights of Thy visage

and the Seat of the throne of Thy union.

5.

Illumine their hearts, O my God, with the light of Thy knowledge

and brighten their faces with the rays of the Daystar that shineth from the horizon of Thy Will.

6.

Potent art Thou to do what pleaseth Thee.

7.

No God is there except Thee, the All-Glorious,

Whose help is implored by all men.

8.

Assist them, O my God, to render Thee victorious and to exalt Thy Word.

9.

Suffer them, then, to become as hands of Thy Cause amongst Thy servants,

and make them to be revealers of Thy religion and Thy signs amongst mankind,

in such wise that the whole world may be full of Thy remembrance and praise

and Thy proofs and evidences.

10.

Thou art, in truth, the All-Bounteous, the Most Exalted,

the Powerful, the Mighty, and the Merciful.

Baha-ullah

1.

In the Name of Him Who hath been promised in the Books of God,

the All-Knowing, the All-Informed!

2.

The days of fasting have arrived

wherein those servants who circle round Thy throne,

and have attained Thy presence, have fasted.

3.

Say,

O God of names, and Creator of heaven and earth!

4.

I beg of thee by Thy Name, the All-Glorious,

to accept the fast of those who have fasted for love of Thee

and for the sake of Thy good-pleasure

and have carried out what Thou hast bidden them in Thy Books and Tablets.

5.

I beseech Thee by them to assist me in the promotion of Thy Cause

and to make me steadfast in Thy love,

that my footsteps may not slip on account of the clamor of thy creatures.

6.

Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest.

7.

No God is there except Thee,

the Quickener, the All-Powerful, the Most Bountiful, the Ancient of Days.

Bahau'lah

CHAPTER ONE

Divisions 1-25

1.

I beseech Thee, O my God, by Thy mighty Sign,

and by the revelation of Thy grace amongst men,

2.

to not cast me away from the gate of the city of Thy presence,

and to disappoint not the hopes I have set on the manifestations of Thy grace amidst Thy creatures.

3.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most Luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

4.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.

5.

I beseech Thee, O my God, by Thy most sweet Voice and by Thy most exalted Word,

to draw me ever nearer to the threshold of Thy door,

and to suffer me not to be far removed from the shadow of Thy mercy

and the canopy of Thy bounty.

6.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most Luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

7.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.

8.

I beseech Thee, O my God,

by the splendor of Thy luminous brow, and the brightness of the light of Thy visage,

which shineth from the all-highest horizon,

to attract me by the fragrance of Thy raiment,

and make me drink of the choice wine of Thine [theological] utterance.

9.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most Luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

10.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung

all in this world and in the world to come.

11.

I beseech Thee, O my God,

by Thy hair which moveth across Thy face,

even as Thy most exalted pen moveth across the pages of Thy Tablets,

shedding the musk of hidden meanings over the kingdom of Thy creation,

12.

so to raise me up to serve Thy Cause that I shall not fall back,

nor be hindered by the suggestions of them who have caviled at Thy signs

and turned away from Thy face.

13.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most Luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

14.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.

15.

I beseech Thee, O my God, by Thy Name which Thou hast made the King if Names,

by which all who are in heaven and all who are on earth have been enraptured,

to enable me to gaze on the Daystar of Thy Beauty,

and to supply me with the wine of Thine utterance.

16.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding tightly to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most Luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

17.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.

18.

I beseech Thee, O my God,

by the Tabernacle of Thy majesty upon the loftiest summits,

and the Canopy of Thy Revelation on the highest hills,

to graciously aid me to do what Thy will hath desired and Thy purpose hath manifested.

19.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most Luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

20.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.

21.

I beseech Thee, O my God,

by Thy Beauty that shineth forth above the horizon of eternity,

22.

a Beauty, that before which. as soon as it be revealed

the entire kingdom of beauty boweth down in worship, [because it is the prophetic revelation]

23.

magnifying it in ringing tones,

to grant that I may die to all that I possess and live to whatsoever belongeth unto Thee.

24.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most Luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

25.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.

CHAPTER TWO

Divisions 26-50

26.

I beseech Thee, O my God,

by the Manifestation of Thy Name, the Well-Beloved,

through Whom the hearts of Thy lovers were consumed

and the souls of all that dwell on earth have soared aloft,

to aid me to remember Thee amongst Thy creatures, and to praise Thee amidst Thy people.

27.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most Luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

28.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.

29.

I beseech Thee, O my God,

by the rustling of the Divine Lote-Tree

and the murmur of the breezes of Thine utterance in the kingdom of Thy names,

to remove me far from whatsoever Thy will abhorreth,

and draw me near to the station wherein He Who is the Dayspring of Thy signs hath shone forth.

30.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

31.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.

32.

I beseech Thee, O my God,

by that Letter which, as soon as it proceeded our of the mouth of Thy will,

hath caused the oceans to surge, and the winds to blow,

33.

and the fruits to be revealed, and the trees to spring forth,

and all past traces to vanish, and all veils to be rent asunder,

34.

and them who are devoted to Thee to hasten unto the light of the visage of their Lord,

the Unconstrained,

to make known unto me what lay hid in the treasuries of Thy knowledge

and concealed within the repositories of Thy wisdom.

35.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most Luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

36.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.

37.

I beseech Thee, O my God,

by the fire of Thy love which drove sleep from the eyes of Thy chosen ones and Thy loved ones,

and by their remembrance and praise of Thee [in religious worship] at the hour of dawn,

to number me with such as have attained unto

that which Thou hast sent down in Thy Book and manifested through Thy will.

38.

Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name,

the Most Holy, the Most Luminous,

the Most Mighty, the Most Great,

39.

the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious,

and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.
