How do you spend your free time?
Read the dialogues in pairs.What topics are discussed in this conversation?
Harry: Hi, Brooke. How are you?
Brooke: Hi, there. I’m fine, thank you. And you?
Harry: I’m very well. How are things at school?
Brooke: Everything seems to be going well. At the moment I’m working on a new project about free time. Can you help me?
Harry: Yes, of course. You can say I’m a professional free time planner. (smiles)
Brooke: Great. Let’s start from the weekend. What useful activities do ordinary people do at weekends?
Harry: Well, speaking about me, I spend all my weekends actively. I go jogging, cycling, swimming. As you see, I prefer doing sport activities when I have free time.
Brooke: How about people who like going out?
Harry: Yes, I completely forgot about them. You can make two columns on your list: people who do sports in their free time and people who go out to different places.
Brooke: What do you mean by different places?
Harry: I mean restaurants, cinema, shopping center, ice-rink, bowling club, pubs, coffee houses, etc.
Brooke: I see. I will also have to shape this project nicely. Perhaps, I’ll add a couple of funny sketches.
Harry: By the way, what are you going to do tonight? Today is Friday and Friday evening is a good time for relaxing.
Brooke: I was planning to stay at home and to finish all my homework for the next week, so that I can have a fully relaxing weekend.
Harry: I see. Don’t you want to go to the cinema with me? You will need to spare only two hours for that. They say there is an interesting movie on.
Brooke: What’s it about?
Harry: It’s about one Imaginary kingdom where everything is like in real life. People live, love, pray, argue sometimes, become friends, split and then get together again. In other words do all that ordinary people do.
Brooke: Sounds interesting. Can’t we go there tomorrow?
Harry: No, it’s on only today at 7 pm.
Brooke: All right then. I’ll put aside my studies and join you.
Harry: Great. I’ll call you later then and see you tonight. We should spend our time efficiently.
