ЗАДАНИЯ
1.1. Найдите транскрипцию приведённых ниже слов в англо-русском словаре. Произнесите слова в соответствии с транскрипцией (см. Приложение1). Прослушайте слова (см. Введение.п.2). (Find a transcription of the following words in the English-Russian dictionary. Say the words according to the transcription (see Application1). Listen to the words (see Introduction. item2.)
to exist - существовать
to corrode - ржаветь, разъедать
to lead (led) - вести
core - сердечник, комплект жил кабеля
device - прибор, механизм
duct - канал, труба
lead [led] - свинец
sheath - оболочка, обшивка
ground - земля, заземление
since - с, с тех пор (как)
Сердечник ржавеет и канал будет разъедать землю.
С тех пор свинец вёл и существовал прибор обшивки.
1.2. Найдите в тексте «CONSTRACTION OF POLYTHENE CABLES» указанные в задании 1.1. слова. Запишите слова в контексте (см. Введение. п.1). (Find words pointed in the task 1.1. in the text «CONSTRACTION OF POLYTHENE CABLES». Write down the words in a context (see Introduction. item1.)
CONSTRACTION OF POLYTHENE CABLES
What is polythene? It is thermoplastic material used as insulator, and for many other purposes in communication industry. Polythene is mostly used in cases where a chemically-resistant plastic material is needed.
It is a well-known fact that cables are classified as belonging to the main parts in the modern communication systems. Cables used for communication purposes differ in length, construction, properties, and, naturally, in their cost. Polythene cables belong to the type of cables widely used in transmitting electrical energy from area to area, since polythene is the popular and highly useful insulating material of today.

Polythene cables are comparatively new devices. Their industrial production started only after World War II. Since that period they have been widely used in different spheres of energy transmission throughout the world.
