Птицы в качестве центральных образов фигурируют в целом ряде кинофильмов. Наиболее известен ставший классическим кинофильм Альфреда Хичкока «Птицы», в котором пернатые нападали на прохожих и врезались в окна и стены домов[239][240].
Различные, преимущественно антропоморфные, птицы становятся частыми персонажами мультипликационных фильмов: «Возвращение блудного попугая», «Рио», «Камешек и пингвин», «Приключения пингвинёнка Лоло», «Вэлиант: Пернатый спецназ», «Пингвины Мадагаскара», и многие другие.

В современной геральдике птицы в той или иной интерпретации присутствуют на 35 % государственных гербов, примерно половина из них включают изображения одноглавых и двуглавых орлов, а также сокола, ястреба, кондора; на семи гербах изображен голубь. Из архетипических мифических образов присутствуют грифоны, птица Хумо, Гаруда (гербы Таиланда, Индонезии и Улан-Батора), кречет Манаса, из национальных и традиционных символов — венценосный журавль, птица-секретарь, дронт, петух, кетцаль, морские птицы (страны Океании), ворон и др.[241][242] Изображения птиц могут представлять доминирующую эмблему герба, либо выступать составной частью основополагающих эмблем[241].

Птицы являются популярными объектами в современной культуре. Их изображения, в той или иной интерпретации, часто появляются на обложках научных книг о природе и художественных произведений; на рекламных плакатах и обложках музыкальных дисков, в музыкальных видеоклипах, на керамических и ювелирных изделиях, предметах быта. Изображения птиц часто помещают на почтовых марках и монетах[12]. Метафора «белая ворона» обозначает лицо, имеющее поведение или систему ценностей, отличные от других лиц общества.
Целый ряд птиц был избран в качестве символов отдельных штатов в США[243][244].
В странах Юго-Восточной Азии пользуются популярностью «петушиные бои» — состязания боевых петухов, которых натравливают друг с другом, ставшее своеобразным азартным видом спорта, в котором зрители делают ставки. В Великобритании популярными остаются голубиные гонки, в ходе которых специально обученные стаи голубей, соревнуясь между собой, должны пролететь большие расстояния[245].
