Tips for being a super-organised student

I have always admired students who hand their homework in on time and never forget to do it. Me, on the other hand, … OK, I admit. I’m terrible at getting myself organised!
But lately I’ve started keeping a small study diary. I write down everything I need to do and when it needs to be done by. Then I write a reminder a few days before the date just in case. It’s helping. So I was wondering, what are your tips for getting organised? Post a comment below. I’m hoping we can all share some tips to teach us all better study skills.

Hana: Good question, Amy. I always spend about five minutes at the end of the day tidying up the desktop on my computer. I make a backup of important documents. I delete things I don’t need any more and put everything into the correct folder.
Amy: Nice tip, Hana. I think it’s a good idea to do a little bit of tidying up every day. Then it becomes a habit and your desktop is always organised.
Gloria: The most important thing is to start studying a few weeks before the exams and not leave it until the night before! That’s just common sense, I think.
Amy: Thanks, Gloria! I agree.
Lou: Hi, Amy. My tip is to have a big noticeboard in your bedroom, divided into different sections. I’ve got one. It’s a whiteboard. I’ve got a section for each school subject and another one for other stuff. I use board pens to write reminders and I make sure I look at it every day. The best part is when I remove something from the board!
Amy: Great tip, Lou. I’ve got a cork board with pins. I use it in the same way.

Время будущее в прошедшем обозначает действие, которое произойдет в будущем с точки зрения момента в прошлом. Иначе говоря, Future in the Past – это когда в прошлом говорят о чем-то, что произойдет в будущем. Эта форма употребляется в придаточных предложениях после глаголов (в прошедшем времени):
say – говорить, tell– говорить, know – знать, believe – верить, полагать, hope – надеяться.
Все формы будущего в прошедшем, образуются так же, как и формы будущего времени с единственной разницей – глагол will заменяется на would. В письменной речи обычно используется союз that (что) после глагола, в устной он часто опускается.
I knew (that) you would smile. – Я знал, что ты улыбнешься.
I said (that) we would not regret our decision. – Я сказал, что мы не пожалеем о нашем решении.
В форме будущего в прошедшем чаще всего употребляются простое (Simple) и длительное (Continuous) времена.

Future Simple in the Past. Обозначает действие в будущем, о котором говорилось в прошлом. Самая употребительная форма.
В активном залоге:
I said that I would be late today. – Я сказал, что буду сегодня поздно.
She knew that sh ewould come back next week. – Она знала, что вернется на следующей неделе.
Max believed that we would find his friend in that town. – Макс верил, что мы найдем его друга в том городе.
Nick and Mary hoped that their family business would succeed – Ник и Мэри надеялись, что их семейный бизнес будет удачным.
В пассивном залоге:
The travellers knew that they would be forced to return anyway. – Путешественники знали, что будут вынуждены вернуться в любом случае.
Future Continuous in the Past. Длительное действие в будущем, воспринимаемое с позиции прошлого.
Mike said that he would be working at that time tomorrow. – Майк сказал, что он будет завтра работать в это время.
I supposed that I would be sleeping at 9. – Я полагал, что в девять часов буду спать.
We understood that Anna would not be assisting us. – Мы поняли, что Анна не будет нам помогать.
Future Perfect in the Past. Завершенное действие в будущем, воспринимаемое с позиции прошлого. Форма употребляется редко.
В активном залоге: We hoped we would have finished the project by Monday. – Мы надеялись, что закончим проект к понедельнику.
В пассивном залоге: We hoped that the project would have been finished by Monday. – Мы надеялись, что проект будет закончен к понедельнику/

Future Perfect Continuous in the Past
Процесс, который будет длиться в будущем до какого-то момента, воспринимаемый с точки зрения прошлого. Практически не употребляется даже в письменной речи.
He told us that he would have been driving that truck for 10 years next year. – Он сказал нам, что в следующем году будет 10 лет, как он водит этот грузовик.
