4. Приступайте к переводу текста. Если вам не понятно значение какого-то слова, не старайтесь сразу найти его в словаре. Прочитайте текст дальше. Часто бывает так, что последующие слова раскрывают значение предыдущих. Подключайте догадку.

5. Прежде чем записать предложение сформулируйте его мысленно. Порядок слов в английском и русском языках не совпадает.

6. Запишите перевод текста. Прочитайте свой перевод, чтобы убедиться, что все предложения построены правильно.

7. Прочитайте вопрос, найдите ответ в тексте. Сформулируйте ответ на вопрос мысленно. Не забываете о грамматических правилах построения предложения.

8.  Запишите ответ.

9. Прилагательные в степенях сравнения запишите в три столбика.

10. Если вы не можете выполнить какой-либо пункт задания, не тратьте на него много времени, а переходите к следующему. В конце работы вернитесь к этому заданию.

11. Если вы ответили неправильно, то зачеркните неправильный ответ, сверху напишите правильный.

1.1. Прочитайте текст, постарайтесь понять его содержание:

Mark Twain.

(1835 – 1910)

1. Mark Twain was a famous American writer. His name was Samuel Clements. “Mark Twain” was his pen name. Samuel Clemens was born in a small town on the Missouri river in the USA. The boy had many friends at school and when he became a writer, he wrote about them in his stories.

2. When Samuel was twelve, his father died and the boy began to work. He learned the profession of a printer. But Samuel wanted to be a sailor and when he was twenty, he found work on the ship.

3. After some time he left the ship and went to live in California. Here he began to write short stories under the pen name of Mark Twain. He sent them to newspapers. The readers liked his stories. The many professions, which he knew, helped him to show life and people. In 1876 he published the best novel “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, which boys and girls in many countries know and like very much.

1. One of the first novels in the history of English literature was “Robinson Crusoe” by Daniel Defoe.

2. Daniel Defoe was born in London in 1660. When Daniel was a schoolboy, he began to write stories. After he finished school the young man began to write articles for newspapers. Defoe went to other countries and met many people. That helped him to write his stories.

3. In 1719 Defoe wrote the novel” Robinson Crusoe”. He told the true story of sailor who lived on an island for four years where there were no people. Robinson Crusoe in Defoe’s novel lived on an island for twenty-eight years. He worked all the time and learned to make many useful things. People in England and in many countries liked the novel.

Jonathan Swift.

(1667 – 1745)

1. Jonathan Swift, the famous English writer, was born in a poor family in Dublin, Ireland. His father died some month before the boy was born.

2. His mother found work in England and left Jonathan in his uncle’s family. He learned very well at school and his uncle sent him to Dublin University. When Swift left the University, he went to England in 1689 and found work their as secretary to writer.

3. At that time Jonathan Swift began to write articles for newspapers. He attacked the colonial policy of England in Ireland; he wanted the Irish people to be happy. Soon Swift began to write satirical novels. In 1726 he wrote the novel “Gulliver’s Travels”. It is a satirical novel about England at that time. People liked the book not only in England and Ireland but in other countries too.
