The Importance of Art in the Daily Life

Art

I think I must say it’s even challenging for a lot of people. I absolutely failed when it comes to drawing still life paintings like fruit and flowers. I think for those who succeed in drawing or arts in general, they first must have God-gifted talent, then comes to the long-term commitment to arts that requires extreme practice and high patience.

Learning arts, especially at a young age, can help stimulate children’s cognitive development and encourage them to think outside the box. Because they’re still little, their ideas are very fresh and lovely, which is worth appreciating.

Question- Many museums charge for admission while others are free.

Do you think the advantages of charging people for admission to museums outweigh the disadvantages?

Some museums have an admission charge while some do not. In my opinion, the drawbacks of an entrance fee are eclipsed by its benefits in the sense that the income will be ploughed back into operation and development of the museums.

Excellent. You have outlined what you are going to talk about and at the same time made your opinion very clear. This is exactly what you need to do to make it clear to the examiner what you think about the question and also helps them to follow the rest of your essay.

A major disadvantage of an admission fee is the possibility of reducing the number of visitors. Museums house exhibitions and artefacts of great educational and historical value. If the chief aim of a museum is to introduce the local community, admission should be free to the public and visitors. Take some folk museums in Hong Kong, which preserve historic relics and display folk customs, for example. Admission to these folk museums, which are often monuments, is free of charge. If they had charged an entrance fee, many might have turned to other activities.

Excellent. Clear and relevant main reasons and fully developed idea. It was great to see how you took one central idea and developed it fully with explanations and a specific example.

Granted, an entrance fee might have a negative effect on the admission figures, but an income is favorable to museums in terms of operation. Museums feature educational exhibitions at times, and this could not have been done without a sum of money expended on hiring professionals and buying equipment. The Hong Kong Space Museum, for instance, has monthly exhibitions on different issues and professional docents are employed to take visitors on a guided tour around the museum. This example speaks volumes about how a reasonable admission charge is advantageous to the operation of a museum.

As above. I particularly like the way you linked both main ideas in the first sentence.

In conclusion, the disadvantages of an admission fee are overshadowed by the benefits accruing from a stable source of income. Therefore, having weighed up the pros and cons, I am convinced that museums should charge an entrance fee for the sake of operation and development.

In today's world of advanced science and technology, we still greatly value our artists such as musicians, painters and writers. What can arts tell us about life that science and technology cannot?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

You should write at least 250 words.

Sample Answer:
It is true that science and technology, nowadays, have benefitted the whole world in all aspects. Although science and technology have a greater impact in our lives, the role of artists is unforgettable, and they contribute a lot in our lives.

There are many things that artists can tell us about life that science and technology failed to. To commence with, communication between people in every nation which is the language that they speak with each other, in fact, is a branch of art, this gives people the sense of humanity, and this perhaps the only difference between human beings and animals. Furthermore, creative people can boost us emotionally and change our feelings. For example, lots of Beethoven's fans listen to his music pieces because they feel relieved and motivated, so music controls our emotions and translates our feelings.

Another field in which we learn from art is related to culture and history. Many states show their history through a piece of painting or the way that people dance and wear, for the majority of people this is the sort of entertainment too, there are people who travel around the globe to visit historical places and art galleries. By contrast, this is not the case when science and technology are considered as they all about practical and physical aspect and do not contribute in our lives emotionally and socially.

To conclude, there is no denying the fact that science and technology have great value in our life. However, artists can teach people about many aspects of their life that the former cannot.

Advances in science and technology have made great changes to lives of ordinary people, but artists such as musicians, painters and writers are still highly valued.

What can the arts tell us about life that science and technology cannot?

Sample Answer:
Various technological and scientific developments have tremendously enhanced our lifestyle and the way this is expanding, we are expected to have a far better lifestyle in the future than the current era. We have already ushered in a new era of previously unknown and unimaginable feats of technological development and the thanks go to the scientific discovery and invention alone. Despite this, arts, culture and traditions still have so much to teach us and this is why we still value arts and artists.

One thing arts teach us where science is silent is the appreciation of life. In science, there are a little value of beauty if something does not work. Thus a piece of abstract art has no meaning in science but has great stories to tell when we consider it an art. In the world of arts, beauty matter in and of themselves whereas in science, the only true measure is whether it works or not. Arts offer us a spiritual outlook of life while science teaches us just the opposite. We are surrounded by nature which is a rare combination or science and arts. If we leave out the arts and beauty from nature, it would become a dull theory of how molecules work together. To give an example, if we listen to the music of Mozart, we can learn about harmony and joy through the medium of music or if we read classical novels, the past world reveals itself to us. Moreover, when we look back at the stars in a dark night, we appreciate the beauty and arts have taught us to appreciate this beauty.

The great artists tell us about the true joys of life. Thus a classic book can teach us more about life than a biology book can. We do not need to understand arts to appreciate music, books or art exhibition but we need to understand scientific theories to understand how something really works. The artists reflect life and teach us to learn about our inner-value. When we start appreciating arts, we start living the life to its fullest and live for others.

So to say, science and technology have made our physical world more comfortable in this century and will keep bringing new wonders in our daily life, arts and humanities have taught us to appreciate life, to live for a reason.

The Importance of Art in the Daily Life

The most common concept of art as pieces of work—whether paintings or sculptures, displayed in galleries and museums is not the case in today’s modern world. In fact, people at present acknowledge that there is so much more to art than what you see displayed in intimidating art galleries. Indeed, art surrounds life, every people in every location, without us being really aware of it.

Since time immemorial, art has existed as long as man. It is a huge part of our culture which shapes our ideas, and vice versa, provides us with a deeper understanding of emotions, self-awareness, and more.

Many people fail to realize how art impacts their daily life. Everybody use art on a continual basis. Majority doesn’t know how much of a role art plays in our lives and just how much we rely on art in all of its forms in our everyday lives.

Why is art important in our daily lives? Because we are surrounded by art, and without it, the human race will not be as you know it.

Art in the Home

Arguably, almost everyone has any form of art in their home—a painting, a framed photograph, a table centerpiece, and even the main layout and design of a house is art. Art is not purely for looking at and admiring, a lot of it is functional too, especially when it comes to our homes. Everything from a delightfully patterned quilt on the bed or even your decorative tea towels and tea cupscan be considered a form of art, our brain is just conditioned to think that it is not art when it’s not only for decoration.

Art and Music

Music, same as art, is a universal language and its importance to our daily lives is undeniable. Subconsciously, we hear music through television shows, commercials, radio and through other media. Sounds, songs and music can make life extremely joyful and can have a huge effect on our mood.

It has a positive impact to people’s moods and perspective. It can boost productivity and boost up motivation and determination. Similarly, when stress is high, many people find that relaxing to calming music is something that eases the mind.

Site-Specific Art

Art, in any form, can give people emotions that can lift up their spirit and make them more driven than ever. One of the most common trends in the tourism industry is hospitality art, which utilizes art to invite guests and engage them more throughout their stay. Corporate art inspires workers and boosts productivity using art inside the workplace. Hospital art, or healing art is also one way of helping patients recover faster and their family and healthcare workers to regain their composure and stay calm.

Art is everywhere, influencing us on a daily basis, whether we realize it or not. And this is the mere reason why art is important in our daily lives. With the art that we are surrounded by, whether it’s a painting, music or even videos can have a huge impact on our mood and emotions.

People think that science and technology are superior to art. But art makes life worthwhile. It may not be vital to fulfill our basic needs; it does make life joyful. As we continue to journey a fast-paced life, moments of quick decisions and fragmented thoughts, art allows every moment memorable. Understanding our emotions can help us heal, grow and improve ourselves. Increasing our self awareness through art can lead to more success both personally and professionally.

Art can make a community more beautiful. It also makes the places we go and spend time in more interesting. Through art we gain a better understanding of cultures, history and tradition; as well as help the people in the present weave their own today.

Most people don`t realize just how much we rely on art and all forms of it, in our everyday lives. While you might not be aware of it, we are surrounded by it and use it on a continual basis. It might sound exaggerated, but it is very true. Chances are, you have some form of art in your home. Whether visual art or musical, it`s there. Do you have a photograph or painting on a wall? A quilt on the bed? A woven area rug or decorative tea towels? Not all visual art is purely for looking at, a lot of it is functional and this is particularly true when it comes to our homes. Everything from that cute blue and white teapot to the sleek computer case can be considered a form of art. But why is it important? You could get along just fine with essential items that were non-artistic. You could survive just fine without music on your stereo. And that is the reason that is it so valuable. You see, while art may not be vital to fulfill our basic needs it does make life joyful. When you look at the paintings you`ve chosen to hang on your bedroom wall, you feel happy. The sculpture or figurines in the kitchen window create a sense of joy and create the atmosphere that you want to live in. It might seem very simple, but the fact of the matter is, music and art affect most of what we do. Everywhere you go, art is evident. The parks use sculptures to add interest and to inform people. Posters on walls give information and motivation. Music plays on the radio to keep your energy levels up. It`s something that we literally find ourselves immersed in most of the time!

Many people work with music on. It`s something that helps them set the mood for what they are about to do. If they have something hard or difficult to work on or are feeling tired, an energetic music band can wake them up and add some energy to the situation. Likewise, when stress is high, many find that relaxing to a calming music is something that works well. Inspirational posters or even art that you personally find motivational are often found in workspaces to encourage the worker to continue being productive and have been proven to actually work. This is why many companies now use art in their offices, as well as background music or they allow their workers to listen to music as they are working on a project. Whatever the case, the end result is often of far better quality. The art we are surrounded with or watch, even in videos, can impact us in an emotional sense. Some art is very dark and can cause disturbing emotions, anger or even depression. Other art, visual art or otherwise, can affect our mood in a more positive method, making us feel happier, calmer or even inspired to do something, it’s a very powerful thing! Whether visual or musical, you`ll find that art is something that can really affect your everyday life, for better or for worse.

Using a music set to visual art has proven to be an excellent method of providing mental stimulation. If you have ever watched an inspirational video you know just how strongly they can cause you to react, just by using visual art and music in combination. Likewise, you can tell a story or convey a message through this type of combination, using art and music to get the point across. Even in another language, these types of artistic presentations make sense because they are using universal languages! They will cause joy, anger or sadness, no matter what your mother tongue. As you can see, art is everywhere. We are influenced and affected by it on a daily basis, whether we realize it or not.
