Tablet of the Calamity of the Elevated Letters 11 страница

been made to return,

and in Whom Thou hast caused all Thine attributes and titles to attain their final consummation.

64.

To Him also belong such names as lay hid within Thy stainless tabernacles,

in Thine invisible world and Thy sanctified cities.

65.

Magnify Thou, moreover, them that have believed in Him and in His signs

and have turned towards Him,

from among those that have acknowledged Thy unity in His Latter Manifestation -

66.

a Manifestation whereof He hath made mention in His Tablets, His Books, and His Scriptures,

and in all the wondrous verses and gem-like utterances that have descended upon Him.

67.

It is this same Manifestation Whose covenant Thou hast bidden Him establish

ere He had established His own covenant.

68.

He it is Whose praise the Bayan hath celebrated.

69.

In it, His excellence hath been extolled, and His truth established,

and His sovereignty proclaimed, and His Cause perfected.

70.

Blessed is the man that hath turned unto Him,

and fulfilled the things He hath commanded,

O Thou Who art the Lord of the worlds

and the Desire of all them that have known Thee!

71.

Praised be Thou, O my god,

inasmuch as Thou hast aided us to recognize and love Him.

72.

I, therefore, beseech Thee by Him and by Them who are the Daysprings of Thy divinity,

and the Manifestations of Thy lordship,

and the Treasuries of Thy revelation,

and the Libraries of Thine inspiration,

73.

to enable us to serve and obey Him,

and to empower us to become the helpers of His Cause and the dispensers of His adversaries.

74.

Powerful art Thou to do all that pleaseth Thee.

75.

No God is there beside Thee,

the Almighty, the All-Glorious, the[Lord/servant] Whose help is sought by all men!

Baha-ullah

1.

Praise be unto Thee, O Lord my God!

2.

We have observed the Fast in conformity with Thy bidding,

and break the Fast now through Thy love and Thy good-pleasure.

3.

Please accept, O my God,

the deeds that we have performed in Thy path wholly for the sake of Thy beauty

with our faces set towards Thy Cause, free from anything else except Thee.

4.

Bestow, then, Thy forgiveness upon us, upon our forefathers,

and upon all such as have believed in Thee and in Thy mighty signs

in this most great, this most glorious Revelation.

5.

Potent art Thou to do what Thou choosest.

6.

Thou art, verily, the Most Exalted, the Almighty, the Unconstrained.

Baha-ullah

1.

Praised be Thou, O God, my God!

2.

These are the days whereon Thou hast ordained Thy chosen [servants],

Thy loved [believers], Thy servants, to observe the Fast,

3.

which Thou hast made a light unto the people of Thy kingdom,

even as Thou didst make obligatory prayer a ladder of climbing

for those who acknowledge Thy union.

4.

I beg of Thee, O my God, by these two mighty pillars,

which Thou hast ordained as a glory and honor for all mankind,

to keep Thy religion safe from the mischief of the ungodly and the plotting of every wicked doer.

5.

O Lord, conceal not the light which Thou hast revealed

through Thy strength and Thine omnipotence.

6.

Assist, then, those who truly believe in Thee

with the hosts of the seen and the unseen, through Thy command and Thy sovereignty.

7.

No God is there except Thee, the Almighty, the Most Powerful.

Baha-ullah

PRAYER FOR OBSERVATION OF THE INTERCALARY DAYS

The Intercalary Days, from February 26 to March 1, should be days of preparation for the Fast, days of hospitality, charity, and the giving of presents. Somewhat of a feast time before the fast, and a time for some fellowship with other believers, to encourage observance of the fast from March 1 to March 21. Called the Days of Ha.

19 x 19 = 361 + 4 or 5 = 365 the Intercalary Days

1.

My God, my Fire and my Light!                                                                    [Zoroastrian theme]

2.

The days which Thou hast named the Ayyam-i-Ha in Thy Book have begun,

O Thou Who art the King of names,

and the fast which Thy most exalted Pen hath commanded

unto all who are in the kingdom of Thy creation to observe is approaching.

3.

I entreat Thee, O my Lord, by these days

and by all such as have during that period clung to the cord of Thy commandments,

and laid hold on the handle of Thy precepts,

to grant that unto every soul may be assigned a place within the precincts of Thy court,

and a seat at the revelation of the splendors of the light of Thy countenance.

4.

These, O my Lord, are Thy servants whom no corrupt inclination hath kept back

from what Thou didst send down in Thy Book.

5.

They have bowed themselves before Thy Cause,

and received Thy Book with such resolve as is born of Thee,

and observed what Thou hadst prescribed unto them,

and chosen to follow that which had been sent down by Thee.

6.

Thou seest, O my Lord, how they have recognized and confessed [belief in]

whatsoever Thou hast revealed in Thy Scriptures.

7.

Give them to drink, O my Lord,

from the hands of Thy graciousness the waters of Thine eternity.

8.

Write down, then, for them

the recompense ordained for him that hath immersed himself in the ocean of Thy presence,

and attained unto the choice wine of Thy [meeting] [teaching].

9.

I implore Thee, O Thou the King of kings and the Pitier of the downtrodden,

to ordain for them the good of this world and of the world to come.

10.

Write down for them, moreover, what none of Thy creatures hath discovered,

and number them with those who have circled round Thee,

and who move about Thy throne in every world of Thy worlds.

Thou, truly, art the Almighty, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

Baha-ullah

NAW-RUZ PRAYER

Naw-Ruz, March 21, is the first day of the Baha'i year.

1.

Praised be Thou, O my God,

that Thou hast ordained Naw-Ruz as a festival unto those who have observed the fast for love of Thee

and abstained from all that is abhorrent unto thee.

2.

Grant, O my Lord, that the fire of Thy love and the heat produced by the fast enjoined by Thee

may inflame them in Thy Cause,

and make them to be occupied with Thy praise and with remembrance of Thee.

3.

Since thou hast adorned them, O my Lord, with the ornament of the fast prescribed by Thee,

do Thou adorn them also with the ornament of Thine acceptance,

through Thy grace and bountiful favor.

4.

For the doings of men are all dependent upon Thy good-pleasure,

and are conditioned by Thy behest.

5.

Shouldst Thou regard him who hath broken the fast as one who hath observed it,

such a man would be reckoned among them who from eternity had been keeping the fast.

6.

And shouldst Thou decree that he who hath observed the fast hath broken it,

that person would be numbered with them that have

caused the Robe of Thy Revelation to be stained with dust,

and been far removed from the crystal waters of this living Fountain.

7.

Thou art He through Whom the ensign "Praise-worthy art Thou in Thy works" hath been lifted up,

and the standard "Obeyed art Thou in thy behest" hath been unfurled.

8.

Make known this Thy station, O my God, unto Thy servants,

that they may be made aware that the excellence of all things

is dependent upon Thy bidding and Thy word,

9.

and the virtue of every act is conditioned by Thy leave and the good pleasure of Thy will,

and my recognize that the reins of men's doings

are within the grasp of Thine acceptance and Thy commandment.

10.

Make this known unto them, that nothing whatsoever may shut them out from Thy Beauty,

in these days whereon the Christ exclaimeth:

"All dominion is Thine, O Thou the Begetter of the Spirit (Jesus)";

11.

and Thy Friend (Muhammad) crieth out:

12.

"Glory be to Thee, O Thou the Best-Beloved,

for that thou hast uncovered thy Beauty,

and written down for Thy chosen ones what will cause them to attain unto

the seat of the revelation of Thy Most Great Name,

13.

through which all the peoples have lamented

except them that have detached themselves from all else except Thee,

and set themselves towards Him Who is the Revealer of Thyself

and the Manifestation of Thine attributes."

14.

He Who is Thy Branch and all Thy company, O my Lord, have broken this day their fast,

after having observed it within the precincts of Thy court, and in their eagerness to please Thee.

15.

Do Thou ordain for Him, and for them,

and for all that have entered Thy presence in those days

all the good Thou didst destine in Thy Book.

16.

Supply them, then, with that which will profit them,

in both this life and in the life beyond.

Thou, in truth, art the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

Baha-ullah

Prayer for Jināb of Āqā Mīrzā Āqā

A scriptural tablet in the form of a supplication for Jināb of Āqā Mīrzā Āqā, [who was           ]

1.

He is the All-Hearing, the Listener!

2.

Say :

Glorified be Thou, O my God!

3.

I beseech Thee by Thy Bounty,

and by means of Thy hosts,

4.

and by virtue of the Light which sheds splendor upon

the Cities of Thy Knowledge and of Thy Wisdom,

that Thou may ordain for me that which will draw me near to Thee!

5.

Then write down for me that which will make me a heart that singeth out Thy melodies

and that is firmly established in Thy love.

6.

Thou indeed art [a] All-Powerful [God],

Mighty and Most Excellent.

PARTLY UNTRANSLATED TABLETS

Tablet of Glory                                                                                                         CHAPTER ONE

Divisions 1-[ ]

Tablet of Baha

Dated to around early 1866, or to the middle of the Edirne-Adrianople period in about 1865-6, whch was shortly before the `Most Great Separation' beween Mirza Yahya and Baha-ullah. Another source, sets the tablet's date at around the time of the exile from Baghdad to Constantinople-Istanbul. Starting in Arabic, there is a Persian part too.

Addressed to Khatun Jan Qazviniyya, the daughter of Hajji Asad-Allah Farhadi Qazvini.

GLORY

1.

This is the tablet of Glory which was revealed from the Heaven of Eternity.

2.

So recite it then, O concourse of the Theophanic Cloud,

that perchance ye might soar up unto the heaven of the Cause of God in this atmosphere

and thus be firmly established within the Cause of thy Lord, the All-Merciful.

3.

He is the All-Eternal.

Then the female figure Khatum Jan is addressed as follows,

3.

O Maidservant of God!

Be patient under all circumstances,

and mindful of the fact that the robe of this Youth was dyed crimson

with the blood of hatred between earth and heaven.

4.

At every moment crieth out with a soul-saddending cry.

5.

All His associates that have attempted to help Him

found themselves assailed by the swords of hatred.

6.
