Пособие ориентировано на развитие коммуникативных и профессиональных навыков, расширение кругозора и повышение общего культурного уровня студентов.

 

Учебное пособие предназначено для использования на аудиторных занятиях студентами первого курса факультетов Туризм и Гостиничное дело. Также может частично применяться в качестве дополнительного пособия на других факультетах независимо от их направленности, так как содержит актуальную информацию и коммуникативные задания, которые могут быть полезны и интересны учащимся.

 

The tutorial contains communicative activities accompanying the units studied in the course book English for International Tourism, New Edition, Intermediate by Peter Strutt, and also additional texts and exercises aimed at enlarging students’ vocabulary on the given topics. The tutorial is focused on developing communicative and professional skills, broadening minds and students’ cultural background.

 

The tutorial is intended to be used at lessons for the first year students at the faculty of Tourism and Hospitality. Also, it can be partly applied as an additional tutorial at other faculties independently of their specialization because it includes up-to-date information and communicative tasks which could be of use and interest for students.

DAY 2. Yerevan city tour - master class in Megeryan Carpet

Breakfast at the hotel. Yerevan sightseeing including Republic Square, Opera House, State University, Parliament House, President’s Palace and Cascade complex, Ararat brandy factory with degustation of best Armenian brandy. Visit to Megeryan Carpet factory, where you can experience the magnificent beauty of traditional Armenian carpets. Master class in Megeryan Carpet. Overnight in Yerevan.

DAY 3. Yerevan - Etchmiadzin - St. Hripsime -St. Gayane - Zvartnots Cathedral- master class in Hay Miasnutyan Khach

Breakfast in the hotel. Departure for Etchmiadzin, the spiritual and administrative headquarter (b) of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Visit Etchmiadzin Mother Cathedral (302-303 AD), the seat of the Catholicos. Visit St. Gayane and St. Hripsime Churches (7th c.). Master-class of traditional Armenian gata, shaqar choraki. Lunch. On the way to back to Yerevan stop over for Zvartnots temple, 7th century architectural masterpiece (c), listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Overnight in Yerevan.

DAY 4. Yerevan - Geghard- Garni- master class of making lavash

Breakfast at the hotel. Tour to the only preserved pagan temple (d) Garni. Tour to Geghard medieval monastery: a fantastic example of medieval Armenian architecture of XIII century. It is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Participation in lavash (Armenian bread) baking. Lunch in Garni. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan.

DAY 5. Yerevan-Sevan -Dilijan- Haghpat

Breakfast in the hotel. A tour to a blue-eyed Sevan lake, which is one of the largest freshwater high-altitude lakes (e) in Eurasia. Then departure to a magnificent region which is sometimes called " little Switzerland". We will visit Dilijan. Next stop will be at monastery complex Haghpat which was a religious, cultural and educational center in the X-XIII centuries and is included in the UNESCO's World Heritage List. Dinner in Haghpat. Participation in master class of making traditional Armenian khashlama with white wine sauce. Overnight in Haghpat.

DAY 6. Haghpat-Sanahin- Amberd-Byurakan - Yerevan

Breakfast in the Hotel. The first stop will be at Sanahin is an Armenian monastery founded in the 10th century in the Lori Province of Armenia. It is one of the best examples of medieval Armenian architecture and is also included in the List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Then we will move to the south, where on the slopes of mount (f) Aragats is situated a 7th century fortress. In Burakan you can take part in master class of home-made Armenian cheese and soup with aveluk. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan.

DAY 7. Departure

Breakfast in the hotel. Check out and transfer to the airport.

BULGARIA TOUR

OVERVIEW

This fast-pace Bulgaria tour offers you a full variety of cultural, historical and natural sights in only 5 days. We designed this tour after many years of experience and discussion in order to offer people with limited time frame (g) to see all major places of interest, including UNESCO Nessebar Black Sea town and Kaliakra cape (North Shore).This 5-Day Bulgaria trip will give you more intimate contact with your guide and with local people, it will require some sitting in the car but it will also save you money for more expensive Sofia hotels. In our tours we have included accommodation in our chosen 3* hotels, where we have complete confidence in the quality of service. Whenever possible, you can upgrade to 4* and 5* hotels or opt for a more budget accommodation (h).

Day 1. On our first busy day we start early from your hotel or accommodation in Sofia and head straight (i). East from Sofia along the beautiful Balkan range (Stara planina) to historic town of Koprivshtitsa. After a visit of 3 houses-museums and a quick lunch, we continue our road trip to Kazanlak area and we visit the Thracian Tombs (UNESCO and Goliama Kosmatka), Shipka Memorial Church and we will arrive in Veliko Tarnovo where we can enjoy at night the sound and light show over the fortress and relax in our hotel in Veliko Tarnovo with a great view over the monument of Assen Dynasty of Kings. Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.

Day 2. In the morning after a nice breakfast we start our climb of the Tsarevets hill fortress - the city of Bulgarian Tsars in the 13th and 14th centuries. After that we can have a nice walk around the old Samovodska Street to buy a souvenir and grab some lunch (j). A short drive will take to Arbanassi village in the afternoon for a visit of the the Nativity of Christ church with its beautiful frescoes from 1632 and one of the oldest preserved iconostasis from wood. The mural paintings (k) include the life of St. John the Baptist, patron of the church (l), and the wheel of life with the 12 zodiac signs. In about 3-hour drive we arrive in the sea capital of Bulgaria - Varna where we will check in into our central hotel and enjoy a night walk in the Sea Garden. Overnight in Varna.

Day 3.This 3rd day we will dedicate to (m) our Black Sea north coast - Balcik and Kavarna and its beautiful rocks. We will first visit the Palace in Balcik and its gardens, built by the Romanian Queen Marie in 1937, then have lunch in a restaurant called The Shell Farm, where we can have some fresh clams and other sea fruits and fish. Then we will go to Kaliakra cape where dolphins and cormorants might be seen. We come back to Varna. There you can see the oldest gold discovered in the whole world in the local historical museum. Overnight in Varna.

Day 4. We will drive south along Bulgarian Black Sea coast to Nesebar, a UNESCO monument and famous sea resort. Sunny Beach nearby will fascinate you with its 8 kilometer long fine sand beach and blue water. On this 4th day you will have a walk in the old town of Nessebar. The town is one of the oldest towns in Europe and the most abundant with (n) medieval architectural monuments in Bulgaria. It inherits an ancient Thracian settlement established 2000 years BC. Nessebar holds nearly 60 houses from the Revival period in Bulgaria (18th-19th century) and more than 40 churches. Overnight in Old Town of Nessebar.

Day 5.On this very last day we go back East (3 hour drive) for our last stop in Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria. Its old town, Roman Theater and Stadium will make you a nice walk garnished with (o) Roman, Medieval and Revival history before we get back to Sofia in the evening.
