Task 3. Are these statements right or wrong? Correct the wrong ones.
1. The HS multipurpose goods nomenclature is used as the key instrument for customs tariffs and for the compilation of international trade statistics.

Raids in Greece and Spain led to 32 individuals (to arrest). Also, two tonnes of eels worth EUR 2 million were seized, along with data storage devices, documents, luxury cars, EUR 1 million in cash and gold bars.
Within the umbrella of LAKE, Portuguese GNR-SEPNA arrested 7 persons suspected of glass eels (to traffic) and ASAE seized 120 kg of glass eels at Lisbon airport. French OCLAESP carried out Operation CIVELLES II and the Customs authorities seized almost 1.2 tonnes of eels. British law enforcement arrested a person (to try) to smuggle 500 kg of eels through Heathrow airport.
Operation LAKE has also been very fruitful in terms of intelligence gathering. Data (to collect) by participating parties and submitted to Europol has been used to launch new cases and to support the continuous work of the investigators.

Customs enforcement deals with the protection of society and combatting trans-national organized crime based on the principles of risk management.
Enforcement activities also aim to protect intellectual and cultural property and endangered species of plants and animals.
In order to assist its Members improve the effectiveness of their enforcement efforts and achieve a balance between control and facilitation, the WCO has developed a comprehensive technical assistance and training programme. The WCO has also developed instruments for international co-operation in the form of the revised Model Bilateral Agreement (MBA), the Nairobi Convention which provides for mutual administrative assistance in the prevention, investigation and repression of Customs offences, and the Johannesburg Convention which provides for mutual administrative assistance in Customs matters. The WCO’s Customs Control and Enforcement programme therefore aims to promote effective enforcement practices and encourage co-operation among its Members and with its various competent partners and stakeholders.

1. Пересмотренная Киотская конвенция является основной таможенной конвенцией в области упрощения процедур торговли. Она была разработана Всемирной таможенной организацией и вступила в силу 3 февраля 2006 года.
2. Согласно пересмотренной Киотской конвенции, договаривающие стороны должны придерживаться таких основных принципов, как прозрачность и предсказуемость таможенной деятельности; минимизация необходимого таможенного контроля для обеспечения выполнения регламентов и правил; использование системы управления рисками и осуществление контроля на основании аудита и др.
3. В 2006 году Совет ВТамО одобрил документ о санкционированных экономических операторах в контексте Рамочной программы "SAFE".
4. 3 ноября 1995 года в Москве было подписано Соглашение о единой товарной номенклатуре внешнеэкономической деятельности Содружества независимых государств (СНГ).
