Text I

Let me introduce myself. My name is Yaroslav Semenov. I am from Nyagan, a town in the northwest of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. This year I have finished school and now I’m a first-year student at Yugra State University. I was born on the 23rd of March 2000, so I am 18 years old now. The life of a student is not easy; we have to study a lot. So I don’t have much time for my hobbies. Sometimes I surf the Internet, go for a walk with my friends but most of all I like driving a motorbike. Riding has become one of the greatest joys of my life. Motorcycle riding is a combination of exhilaration, fear, relaxation, and pleasure that changes you forever. It’s physical and emotional pleasure, with a layer of anxiety and adrenaline.

People say that I’m a handsome man but I think that I’m just ordinary-looking. I’m relatively normal height and slim. I look like my father. We’ve both got fair hair and blue eyes. But our personalities are very different. He’s very patient, but I don’t like waiting for anything! I’m cheerful in general. I’m an optimistic person just like my mother. I have a good sense of humour. I think my main shortcoming is that I’m hot-tempered sometimes, but this normally doesn’t affect my relations with people.

I live in a three-room flat on the second floor of a five-storey block of flats. The first room is my parents' room, the second is my sisters’ room, and the third is my room, which is, of course, my favourite room. I spend most of my time there. My room is very nice and cozy but not very spacious. Our flat is in the centre. It’s convenient because I can get anywhere I want quickly. But now I study at Yugra State University so as many students I live in the dormitory.
