Give a piece of advice on how to have a close and happy family.

) First of all I can advise for anyone to try to understand the feelings of your parents and show respect to them. Even if you don’t agree with their thinking, try to make them understand politely, don’t use harsh words with them which may hurt. It’s important to celebrate your parents’ and grandparents’ birthdays. It will make them realize that you care for them.

2) If you want to have close relations in your family you should spend your free time together. You may go to the cinema or to a café together. You should help your relatives with household chores. Try to be open, friendly, caring, understanding and loving. Try to forgive your relatives. Don’t hurt them. And, of course, say a lot of words of love.

3) Join your parents. When they go to dacha, join them even if they don’t ask. It will not be only help but pleasure for them to spend time together with you.

4) Share your plans and thoughts. It often happens that your parents don’t know where you and what you are going to do. Tell your parents about your plans beforehand. Thus they will not be upset and you will get more freedom.

5) Visit your grandparents. Visit them more often, they will be pleased.

They say that parents and children have difficulties understanding each other because of the generation gap. What do you think about it?

The problem of generation gap exists only in families where people don’t want to understand each other. Sometimes parents give too much freedom to their children or parents are too strict. Sometimes teenagers don’t respect their parents and don’t want to obey. I’m lucky to say that there is no problem of generation gap in my family. Sometimes we disagree on some issues but we try to understand one another and to be honest and loving.

The main problem of the parents of teenagers are low marks, clothes and make up, friends of their children and disobedience. Young people of our age are concerned about the problems with parents like misunderstanding, they worry about their look because they want to be fashionable, stylish, they are always in love with somebody and worry if their objects of affection notice the signs, some teenagers have the problem of pocket money and they would like to get any job, in the worst case we can speak about alcohol, tobacco, drug or computer addiction.

Many teenagers suffer from overprotection, others don’t like to study, there are those who are crazy about film stars.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the place you live in?

There are some basic types of houses: detached houses, semi-detached, terraced houses and flats. The most popular type of home in Britain is semi-detached, but in Belarus most people live in flats.

My family lives in a block of flats. I think that it is the cheapest type of dwelling in any town. Flats can be of different sizes: one-roomed, two-roomed, three-roomed, so one can choose what they like, need or can afford. If you are going to live alone, you can prefer a studio to a large apartment. If you live in a block of flats it takes less time to tidy up a flat than a house. But living in a flat has its disadvantages. Your neighbours can make a lot of noise when they hammer or drill the wall or set a party.

Living in a detached house gives you a lot of advantages. Your neighbours do not disturb you. As you have some land around the house, you can build a garage, a padding pool and arrange some flowerbeds.

There are also those who like semi-detached houses. To my mind, such houses attract people because they are less expensive than mansions or bungalows and you have only one neighbour as opposed to a block of flats. And as you have a neighbour, you can always turn to them if you need something, though from time to time your neighbour can disturb you while repairing their part of the house or listening to music loudly. But in general I am sure that it is quite convenient to live in a semi-detached house.

Some people prefer to live in the country either in a small comfortable cottage or in a large farmhouse. The way I see things is that people who prefer this type of dwelling really adore nature and they want to have quiet life. Usually such people keep poultry and cattle. One of the advantages of living in such a house is that you have your own land where you can grow fruit and vegetables. You can also build a greenhouse, a garage and a tool shed. The greatest disadvantage of living in a farmhouse or in a cottage, in my opinion, is that it takes much time to get to the nearest town. On the other hand, if you have a car it will not be difficult for you.

In conclusion I would like to add that there are different types of housing but to live comfortably means to live in the relaxing friendly atmosphere, not in luxury though all people have the right to choose where to live.
