Taking into consideration the limitations of the infrastructure of waste treatment in Kazakhstan, TCO continues to develop its own facilities for waste management. TCO continues to construct cells in the industrial waste polygon, there are plans in place to start up additional reserves of the solid municipal wastes polygon and plans to construct a temporary waste storage site. Additionally, there is a plan to install a concrete crusher in the Integrated Waste Management Facility to handle an increase in construction waste. Resulting pulverized concrete will be used for road cover. TCO is also planning to develop a site for waste treatment. The site will be dedicated to the stabilization of waste containing oil, deactivation of pyrophoric wastes, storage of liquid chemicals and used oils and more. TCO is also planning to further improve waste management technologies. TCO will continue its strategy to reduce waste generation and increase reuse to minimize disposal at landfills. This approach is mutually beneficial, both for the environment and TCO, as it helps to save resources and land. Reduction in the volumes of accumulated industrial and domestic waste represents one of the primary focus areas for environmental safety by the Republic of Kazakhstan, reflected in RK 2004-2015 Environmental Safety Concept and endorsed by decree of the RK President of December 3, 2003 No. 1241. Tengizchevroil was one of the first companies in the oil production sector in Kazakhstan to approach the issue of integrated waste management. The centralized and efficient waste management system launched in TCO allows for significant decreases in the volumes of waste disposal, thus, reducing the waste’s environmental impact.

II. Translate the extract of the text.
Electricity plays such an important part in modern life that in order to get it, men have been burning millions of tons of coal. Coal is burned instead of its being mainly used as a source of valuable chemical substances which it contains. Therefore, finding new sources of electric energy is a most important problem that scientists and engineers try to solve. In this connection one might ask: “Is it possible to develop methods of harnessing lightning?” In other words, could atmospheric electricity be changed into useful energy? Indeed, hundreds of millions of volts are required for a lightning spark about one and a half kilometer long. However, this does not represent very much energy because of the intervals between single thunderstorms. As for the power spent in producing lightning flashes all over the world, it is only about 1\10 000 of the power got by mankind from the sun, both in the form of light and that of heat. Thus, the source in question may interest only the scientists of the future. It has already been mentioned (see Lesson 4) that atmospheric electricity is the earliest manifestation of electricity known to a man. However, nobody understood that phenomenon and its properties until Benjamin Franklin made his kite experiment. On studying the Leyden jar (for long years the only known condenser), Franklin began thinking that lightning was a strong spark of electricity. He began experimenting in order to draw electricity from the clouds to the earth. The story about his famous kite is known all over the world.
