ЗАДАНИЯ

1.1.  Найдите транскрипцию приведённых ниже слов  в англо-русском словаре. Произнесите слова в соответствии с транскрипцией (см. Приложение1). Прослушайте слова (см. Введение.п.2). (Find a transcription of the following words in the English-Russian dictionary. Say the words according to the transcription (see Application1). Listen to the words (see Introduction. item2.)

 

to converse – разговаривать, беседовать

to make up – составлять, собирать, пополнять

to retrieve – восстанавливать, брать обратно

hugeness – огромность

conversation – разговор, беседа

mainframe – цен­тральный блок обработки данных

retrieval – поиск (информации)

 

1.2. Найдите в тексте «USING THE INTERNET» указанные в задании 1.1. слова. Запишите слова в контексте (см. Введение. п.1). (Find words pointed in the task 1.1. in the text «USING THE INTERNET». Write down the words in a context (see Introduction. item1.)

 

USING THE INTERNET

Today the Internet has become a world-wide network of networks. It in­terconnects millions of computers that differ in size, from comparatively simple to complex and huge mainframes and supercomputers.

The Internet is being used by people for many different purposes. Among them — to find and retrieve important documents, to carry on long distance conversations and relationship with other users, to connect to supercomput­ers and numerous other activities.

       The Internet is made up of many types of computers and uses a great va­riety of different operating systems. These different operating systems and computers can exchange data by connecting computer networks with a stan­dard set of communication procedures.

 

1.3. Прочитайте приведенные ниже слова. Обратите внимание на особенности перевода интернациональных слов (см. Введение. п.3.). Попытайтесь перевести слова без словаря. Запишите перевод этих слов, сверяясь со словарём. (Read the following words. Pay attention to the translation of international words (see Introduction. item3). Try to translate these words without a dictionary. Write down the translation of these words, referring to the dictionary.)

4.1. Прочитайте текст «USING THE INTERNET» (п.1.2). Подготовьте устное высказывание по теме (см. Введение. п.6). (Read the text «USING THE INTERNET» (item 1.2.). Prepare a report on the theme (see Introduction. item6.)

4.2. Запишите сокращенный вариант оригинального текста «USING THE INTERNET» (п.1.2) для устного ответа по теме «USING THE INTERNET », используя фразы из Приложения1). (Write down the reduced variant of the original text «USING THE INTERNET» (item 1.2) for the report on the theme «USING THE INTERNET », using phrases from Application1.)
