1.It is an independent, boarding and day school for girls aged 3 to 18 years situated in Bristol, England. According to the Good Schools Guide, the secret of the school’s success is in its size and good deal of individual attention. The school was established for girls in 1858 in Clifton. Unusually for the time the school developed a broad curriculum and extracurricular activities paying special attention to sport. The school grew steadily in size, and in 1924 moved to its present-day place under the headship of Beatrice May Backer.

2. It is one of the most famous English independent schools for boys in the north-west of London. It was officially founded by John Lyon under a Royal Charter of Elizabeth I in 1572. There is also some evidence that there has been a school on the site of Harrow since 1243. It has a lot of traditions and rich history which includes the use of straw hats, morning suits, top hats and canes as uniform.

3. It is an institution divided between a Senior School known simply as the College, the Prep School and the Pre-Prep School. All of these schools are co-educational independent schools in England, sited immediately next to each another. The Senior School caters for children ages from 11 to 18. The current headmaster is Richard J. Cairns. The Good Schools Guide called this school a “Happy, bright and forward-looking town school with a wide and healthy spread of pupils and parents”.

4. It is the third-oldest surviving school in the country after King’s School, Canterbury and St Peter’s School, York; and the oldest boy’s school in England. By 1477 lessons were held in the old church of St. John the Baptist in the Market Place, and the school was still there when King Henry VIII re-founded it as “The King’s New Scole of Warwyke” in 1545. In the present academic year, 2010-11, there are 912 boys in the senior school, aged from 11 to 18, and 251, aged from 7 to 11, in the junior school. In total there are 1110 day pupils and 53 boarders.
