GVDAMLTV025:EDUCATION AND ORPHANAGE CARE SUPPORT



Every child deserves to have access to every basic requirement that will enable him or her grow to be a responsible and productive adult. That is what Barnabas children home and school do. We help children who by unfortunate circumstance are unable to access all the basic requirements that a child needs. Our greatest gift to any child is LOVE which many orphans in Kenya society lack. The far we have come is because of your generous donation and we truly thank you. Welcome you to be part of our home and school as we raise these wonderful children.

The main objectives is to minister to the holistic needs of the orphans, the disabled and the vulnerable children.

Theproject has 40 wonderful children whose stories are incredible, which some can leave you in tears. Some of them are orphans, some disabled and others are from the street.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
-Work as classroom assistant helping local teachers with their work
-Prepare lesson notes/scheme of work
-Organize learning materials
-Develop a teaching method e.g. -Teach classes through lecturing, discussions and demonstration.
-Discuss output and methods with fellow teachers and supervisor.
-Assess the performance of the students through work assignments etc.
-Organize out door/indoor games with students.
-Meet with parents/guardians to discuss progress of their children


Day 1: Arrival and pick upfrom the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, in Nairobi, Kenya and transfer to host family home or hostel.

Day 2: Morning: registration and start of orientation. About 4 hours lecture at the home of your host. Topics covered during orientation lecture will include East African culture, history, customs, politics, geography, and necessary health precautions, and various other topics, such as the diversity of Kenyan life. Afternoon is free for exploring rural Kenyan life and getting to know your host family.

Relevant Details

Project Duration The program will run for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 6 months. The program is running throughout the year.
Accommodation  At a host family. Please note that you will share the typical living conditions of a Kenyan family. There will be electricity, but no shower and pipe water/taps at the accommodation. Volunteers will be using buckets for bathing. Water will be boiled for drinking purposes and those who prefer can buy bottled water.
Location Bamburi in Mombasa Kenya
Project Fees 200 Euros per month or 600 Euros per 3 months
Orientation Orientation meeting will take place in Nairobi before proceeding to the project.
