DIALECTS ON THE TER-RY OF BR.ISLES.



English is a West Germanic language that brought to Britain by Germanic settlers and Roman.Each l-ge has certain norms existing at all of its levels:pronun-n,gr-r,word-usage.Varients of the l-ge exist in oral forms only! & are used within a limited territory and difficult to be understood outside it is called territorial dialects.On the territory of the British Isles there exist several groups of dialects:Northern (Tyke dialect spoken in Yorkshere:[æ]dance,grass),Western(s=z:six),Midland,Eastern and Southern.Cockney:plate-plite,house[aus] +rhyming slang:cash=sausage  and mash,stairs=apples and pears.A dialect-is a variety (of a language is a  form that differs from other forms of the language systematically.  Variety is a style of language).of a language that is characteristic of a  particular group of the language's speakers.There can’e be written any books in dialects,they exist in oral form.National varients:havesimilarities and differences at all the levels of l-ge hierarch (иерархия):in pron-n,gr-r,spelling and word-usage.Scotish Eng &Irish Eng belong to national variants as well as Am,Austr,Canad.Factors: 1)influence of geographic,economy,social &other conditions (cultural,political)2) influence of other l-ges 3)distances b\n the colonies&the frequence of contacts
