Discussion and Analysis of Students' Interview



This section presents the findings of the interview that was addressed to first year LMD students, and each question is to be examined separately.

Item 01.According to your experience, when the level of anxiety increased among learners during exam? Before, during, after the exam (and why)?

Student 01 After because they feel worry about the results.
Student 02 Before, but whenever start answer the exam question the fear disappear.
Student 03 After the exam.

Student 06 Doesn’t answer at this question.
Student 07 According to may experience, we noticed that the majority of the learners feel anxious before the exam, because they negatives ideas comes to their mind when they hear the word of exam.
Student 08 Before and during.
Student 09 Before because all I truck of is preparation.
Student 10 I think before because we don’t have any idea about how the question will be.
Student 11 During because I get acquainted to the exam, but I relax after seeing that the questions are easy.
Student 12 during, it’s exam anxiety than obviously it decreased after.
Student 13 After the exam because the reason of the anxiety has you after passing the exams.
Student 14 Before the exam.

Student 17 During the exam feel high anxious.
Student 18 After. Learners are still stressed over the results.

The fourth item was submitted in order to know when the level of anxiety is increased among the learners during the exam. Most of them are think that “After” the exam; whereas, the other see that before. And few learners who see that during exam the level of anxiety is increased among learners.

Item 02. Precisely, what makes you overstressed during exam, is it the examination hall, questions content, time limited, course load, teachers, parents, grades?

This question was intended to investigate the main factors that make learners overstressed during exam. Most of them claim that “Time Limited”, “Question Content” and “Course Load” are causes to be stressed during examination. Whereas, the other participants think that “Grades” and “Parents” can make them stressed in exam.

Item 03. How often do you think of failure, have you experienced this before? How often?

Student 03 I always think of failure. I didn’t face it during my study years.
Student 04 I have, but not too much actually.

Student 08 Yes, I have. Mainly in every single examination or test achievement.

Student 10 Always, yes, in some modules.
Student 11 I think about failure when I am about to sleep, yes, I am afraid of it, not much only in exams.
Student 12 No never ever I don’t think of failure too much, actually no I’ve not experience before, never ever.

Student 14 Yes, once.
Student 15 I always think about it, yes, twice.
Student 16 When I feel lost I do too much per day, but Alhamdulillah it ends up fine.
Student 17 I don’t think of it, never.
Student 18 No, I Don’t.

This item aims to seek information how many times that participants think of failure and if they experienced before. The majority of learners are thinking of failure as any one; this may refer to less confidence with their selves and they are sure about their responses. Also, from of them are experienced during their experienced. While, there are learners who don’t think of it at all, we assume that these cases are the excellent learners in their group and they are majorette.

Item 04. Is there any other factors that annoy you during exams whether from teachers or students which could you distribute you to concentrate?

Student 08 When the teacher stands by your side, students talk during the exam.

Student 10 When teacher goes and returns a lot between tables.
Student 11 Cheating through using device can distribute me, teachers who invigilate murmur and tend to tell stories there we can’t concentrate.
Student 12 It doesn’t disturb me because I’ve seen it all.
Student 13 The surrounding atmosphere like: noise, colleagues, etc.
Student 14 Yes, Teachers chatting among themselves, students attempt to disturb their peers.
Student 15 Yes, teachers who stand up next to and checking my answers. Huge number of students in emphies.
Student 16 Yes, the teacher’s movement, sound, shoes sounds…
Student 17 Yes, there is.
Student 18 Nothing.

The fifth question aims to gathering information about the factors that annoy learners during exam whether from teacher or students which could disturb them to concentrate. The majority of learners have factors especially from “teachers”. Teachers are main factors that annoy them during exam and they don’t let them concentrate in their answers. Learners feel uncomfortable during examination classroom which take them to disturb their concentration.
