Peter Mironov, a Minsk Tractor Works engineer arrives in St. Petersburg early in the morning. His old friend Nick Mayevsky meets him at the railway station and takes him to the Astoria Hotel. It‘s a comfortable 5-star hotel with all modern facilities. There is a restaurant and a bar downstairs. There is a cosy café where you canlisten to music and have a cup of coffee. The rooms have colour TV-sets, telephones, mini-bars, air conditioners, private baths with showers. There is also a heated swimming-pool, a sports hall and a beauty-saloon in the hotel.

P-Peter, RReceptionist

P: - Good morning.

R: - Good morning, sir.

P: - I have reserved accommodation at your hotel. Myname is Peter Mironov.

R: - Let me check. Yes, that‘s right. One single room with private bath for today and tomorrow.You‘ve got a telephone and a television-set in the room. It‘s on the second floor. No.208.

P: - Where is the breakfast room?

R: - It‘s on the first floor.

P: - I see. Will you please phone me at 6.30 tomorrow morning? I would like to have early morning tea.

R: - Very well. The maid will bring it to your room.

P:-Thank you. I hope the room is not noisy.

R:- It‘s very quiet. It doesn‘t face the street. Will you fillin the form, please?

P: - What shall I write here?

R: - Your name and address,please.

P: - Here you are.

R: - Thank you. Here is the key to your room. I‘ll call the porter and he will take you up to your room. I hope, you‘ll enjoy your stay at our hotel, Mr. Mironov.
