Student Life.
It’s great to be a student. Many colleges and universities offer great opportunities for studying and for social life. Some students even choose to study abroad. There are several reasons why student life is exciting. First of all, students learn what they need for their future profession. It’s even better if the student really enjoys the direction he or she chose. Secondly, being a student doesn’t mean to work and study all the time. They get plenty of free time for their hobbies and favourite pastimes. Thirdly, students’ social life is very interesting. When students decide to study in foreign colleges, it’s also rather exciting. They get to meet lots of new people from other countries. They can practice and improve their language skills. To study at a college students usually have to pay additional fee. College life is amazing in many ways. First of all, there are many interesting lections and training sessions. Secondly, students find all sorts of entertainment there. For example, the ones who like sport join the local sports teams. For many people college years are the best in life. Almost everyone has good memories of student life. It is even more interesting to be a student if you live in a dormitory. After the sessions they can play the guitar and sing songs. The ones, who like dancing, go to local discos. Others get together simply to chat and discuss the topics they’ve learned. Student life is never boring. It is always full of excitement and interesting experiences.

The life of students only seems to be simple, easy-going and joyful. It can be so only on holidays and some weekends when students don’t have to prepare for their classes. All the rest of the time students have to work and sometimes to work very hard.
Studies
The most of educational institutions (colleges, universities) are open five or even six day a week, and the students’ timetable may include the classes on all these working days. Students have to attend lectures and practical studies; moreover, they have to prepare homework assignment for most of the classes. Once a week or two (or even three – it depends on subject) professors take test to evaluate level of proficiency. In the end of each term students are to pass the exams on each the subject.

But preparing for classes and exams is only a part of students’ work, every student writes a scientific work, which demands studies and experimentation, taking a lot of student’s time. Only having got through all these ‘milestones’, student can obtain a diploma and get a job.
Social life
But there is another side of students’ life – social one. Despite the compressed timetable students always find time for communication and active rest. They organize different parties and themed nights, hold competitions and concerts, and deal with the matters of university (or other institution they study at). Students are the most active and progressive society group; they can really alter their future for the better.
To be a student is to practice to be an adult. Successful students often become successful in their professional lives. One only has to remember – business before pleasure.

Оборот If I were you
Этот оборот используется тогда, когда хотят дать совет: If I were you/ in your place/ in your shoes – на вашем (бы) месте; (форма were может заменяться на was).
If I were you, I would go there.
На твоем месте я бы пошла туда.
If I were you, I’d see a doctor.
На вашем месте я бы показался врачу.
I wouldn’t (shouldn’t) do that if I were you.

And now you are to practise our grammar doing the next task: imagine that you are the Governor of the Altay Region. You are going to make a poll before elections. The main question is "What do you have to do to make Altay the best region?" You can give only one idea and you have to explain it. So, your task is to answer the question "What would you do if you were the Governor of the Altay Region and why?" We should display our ideas with the help of "A Decisions Tree"
