Положение о Региональном Конкурсе перевода с английского языка на русский
реализуемом в 2020-2021 учебном году
Организаторами Конкурса являются: Администрация г. Перми, факультет современных иностранных языков и литератур ПГНИУ, Отдел литературы на языках народов мира Пермской краевой библиотеки им. А.М. Горького, Пермская Ассоциация учителей и преподавателей английского языка (PELTA), ПГОО Комитет городов-побратимов «Пермь-Луисвилль».
Целевая группа: Студенты средних, средне-специальных и высших учебных заведений языковых и неязыковых факультетов г. Перми

2. Цели и задачи конкурса
2.1. Конкурс посвящен побратимскому движению г. Перми и Луисвилля и проводится с целью знакомства пермских читателей с современной американской литературой, не издававшейся на русском языке, привлечения внимания к изучению иностранного языка и развития творческой инициативы у молодежи. Конкурс проводится в рамках городского проекта «Пермь-Луисвилль: культурное наследие городов-побратимов».
2.2. Задачами конкурса являются:
- развитие компетенции в области владения английским языком;
- стимулирование творческой активности слушателей в области изучения родного и английского языков;
- повышение мотивации слушателей к дальнейшему совершенствованию своих знаний и навыков в изучении английского языка.
Условия проведения Конкурса

3.1. Конкурс проводится в 2 этапа. 1 этап проводится с 20 мая 2020 по 01 июля 2021года (для студентов вузов). 2 этап будет проведен в сентябре 2021 г (для школьников и студентов ссузов).
3.2. Для Конкурса подобраны аутентичные тексты на английском языке.
3.3. Конкурс проводится в трех номинациях:
· перевод отрывка прозаического текста (Приложение № 1, рекомендуется для студентов нелингвистических специальностей)
· перевод отрывка прозаического текста (Приложение № 2, рекомендуется для иностранных студентов)
· перевод отрывка прозаического текста (Приложение № 3, рекомендуется для студентов лингвистических специальностей)
· перевод отрывка прозаического текста (Приложение № 4)
3.4. Принимать участие в Конкурсе можно как в одной номинации, так и во всех номинациях.
3.5. Оценивание будет проходит отдельно для:
· школьников старших 8-11 классов, студентов сузов
· иностранных студентов, обучающихся в г.Перми.
· студентов языковых факультетов
· студентов неязыковых факультетов
3.6. Определение победителей конкурса осуществляется жюри. Состав жюри конкурса формируется из числа преподавателей Факультета современных иностранных языков и литератур ПГНИУ, преподавателей вузов, колледжей, школ г. Перми.

4. Требования к переводу и оформлению конкурсных работ
4.1. Для участия в Конкурсе на адрес электронной почты foreign-lib@yandex.ru (с пометкой «Конкурс перевода») необходимо направить:
- заявку на участие в Конкурсе (см. Приложение № 1);
- перевод предложенного отрывка текста, оформленного согласно требованиям в указанные ниже сроки.
4.2. Переводы, направляемые на конкурс, должны быть набраны в редакторе Word (шрифт Times New Roman, кегль 12, межстрочный интервал 1,5).
4.3. Критерии оценки представленных на Конкурс перевода текстов:
- адекватность культурному и языковому фону, контексту и специфике;
- эквивалентность: качество передачи исходной информации, качество языкового оформления и качество передачи особенностей оформления исходного текста.
4.4. Итоги Конкурса будут опубликованы после 1 августа 2021 г. на сайте ПГОУБ им. А.М. Горького», на сайте в группе https://vk.com/foreignperm,
5. Порядок проведения Конкурса, 1 этап.
5.1. С 20 мая по по 01 июля осуществляется прием заявок и переводов.
5.2. С 01 по 01 августа жюри проводит оценивание работ участников конкурса и определяет победителей на основе рейтинга.
5.3. Решение жюри оспариванию не подлежит.
5.4. Награждение победителей конкурса проходит в начале сентября 2021 г. в интерактивном зале краевой библиотеки им А.М. Горького.

6. Подведение итогов Конкурса
6.1. Победителям вручаются Дипломы, подписанные организаторами Конкурса и подарки.
6.2. Остальные участники конкурса получают сертификат участника в электронном виде.

My name is Kinsey Millhone. I'm a private investigator, licensed by the state of California. I'm thirty-two years old, twice divorced, no kids. The day before yesterday I killed someone and the fact weighs heavily on my mind. I'm a nice person and I have a lot of friends. My apartment is small but I like living in a cramped space. I've lived in trailers most of my life, but lately they've been getting too elaborate for my taste, so now I live in one room, a "bachelorette".
I don't have pets. I don't have houseplants. I spend a lot of time on the road and I don't like leaving things behind. Aside from the hazards of my profession, my life has always been ordinary, uneventful, and good. Killing someone feels odd to me and I haven't quite sorted it through. I've already given a statement to the police, which I initialed page by page and then signed. I filled out a similar report for the office files. The language in both documents is neutral, the terminology oblique, and neither says quite enough.

Nikki Fife first came to my office three weeks ago. I occupy one small corner of a large suite of offices that house the California Fidelity Insurance Company, for whom I once worked. Our connection now is rather loose. I do a certain number of investigations for them in exchange for two rooms with a separate entrance and a small balcony overlooking the main street of Santa Teresa. I have an answering service to pick up calls when I'm out and I keep my own books. I don't earn a lot of money but I make ends meet.

I stopped off at the Montebello Pharmacy while I was in the neighborhood. The pharmacist, whose name tag said "Carroll Sims," was in his fifties, medium height, with mild brown eyes behind mild tortoiseshell frames. He was in the midst of explaining to quite an old woman exactly what her medication was and how it should be taken. She was both puzzled and exasperated by the explanation but Sims was tactful, answering her flustered inquiries with a benign goodwill. I could imagine people showing him their warts and cat bites... When it was my turn, I wished I had some little ill I could tell him about. Instead, I showed him my I.D.
"What can I do for you?"
"Did you happen to work here eight years ago when Laurence Fife was murdered?"
"Well I sure did. I own the place. Are you a friend of his?"
"No," I said, "I've been hired to look into the whole case again. I thought this was a logical place to start."
"I don't think I can be much help. I can tell you the medication he was taking, dosage, number of refills, the doctor who prescribed it, but I can't tell you how the switch was made. Well, I can tell you that. I just can't tell you who did it."
Most of the information Sims gave me I already knew. Laurence was taking an antihistamine called HistaDril, which he'd been on for years. He consulted an allergist about once a year and the rest of the time the refill on the medication was, automatically okayed. The only thing Sims told me that I hadn't known was that HistaDril had recently been taken off the market because of possible carcinogenic side-effects.

OLD MUSCOVY
Around Moscow, the country rolls gently up from the rivers winding in silvery loops across the pleasant landscape. Small lakes and patches of woods are sprinkled among the meadow-lands. Here and there, a village appears, topped by the onion dome of its church. People are walking through the fields on dirt paths lined with weeds. Along the riverbanks, they are fishing, swimming and lying in the sun. It is a familiar Russian scene, rooted in centuries.
In the third quarter of the seventeenth century, the traveler coming from Western Europe passed through this countryside to arrive at a vantage point known as the Sparrow Hills. Looking down on Moscow from this high ridge, he saw at his feet "the most rich and beautiful city in the world." Hundreds of golden domes topped by a forest of golden crosses rose above the treetops; if the traveler was present at a moment when the sun touched all this gold, the blaze of light forced his eyes to close. The white-walled churches beneath these domes were scattered through a city as large as London. At the center, on a modest hill, stood the citadel of the Kremlin, the glory of Moscow, with its three magnificent cathedrals, its mighty bell tower, its gorgeous palaces, chapels and hundreds of houses. Enclosed by great white walls, it was a city in itself.
In summer, immersed in greenery, the city seemed like an enormous garden. Many of the larger mansions were surrounded by orchards and parks, while swaths of open space left as firebreaks burst out with grasses, bushes and trees. Overflowing its own walls, the city expanded into numerous flourishing suburbs, each with its own orchards, gardens and copses of trees. Beyond, in a wide circle around the city, the manors and estates of great nobles and the white walls and gilded cupolas of monasteries were scattered among meadows and tilled fields to stretch the landscape out to the horizon.

Still the wonder’s in what happened, the wonder’s in the healing, ain’t in how it’s told. It’s the healing itself ain’t how it’s told that draws the folks like bees to wild nectar. Or like flies to honey. But I think bees is fonder of wild nectar than even flies is to honey. Course the bees makes they own honey.
But that’s always been the procedure, though. Nicholas stands up in front of the people and tells them all folksy-like about the first time I ever healed someone, and then, after they’s caught up in the tale, whether they thinks it’s confabulatory or not, I begin the healing. I tell them a little about the first healing my ownself, and sounding more folksy than I naturally am, ’cause when you’s doing the healing you’s got to talk about the healing yourself, ’cause amongst some that lends as much credibility as the healing itself, but like I tell the scientific-minded people or them media people that wants to write up they own confabulatory stories about faith healing in America, I’m mostly there to do the healing. You’s got to heal people to prove to most people that you ain’t just talk. Course there’s some of them disbelievers, even amongst them that ain’t scientific-minded and ain’t the media types, that believes it’s the talk itself that do the healing. That all you’s got to do is talk that healing talk and there’s some gullible folks that is healed. Or they thinks that you’s some kinda hypnotist. After one of them healings, somebody ask me whether I’m some kinda hypnotist. I don’t even know the laws of hypnotism. Ain’t all the scientific-minded cynics, though, and ain’t all the mystical idealists true believers.
But she don’t look like no preacher woman. I wouldn’t want her in no roodloft of my church and no pulpit neither.
She ain’t a preacher woman, she’s a healing woman. And us church don’t allow women to preach anyhow. They allows a woman to teach but they don’t allow her to preach. You know that preacher woman that come here and they told her she couldn’t preach. They said she could teach, but they wouldn’t let her preach.
