Контрольная работа № 1.2

Контрольная работа № 1.2 выполняется студентами на первом курсе (ОГСЭ) или на втором курсе (СОО). Для того, чтобы правильно ее выполнить, необходимо усвоить следующие разделы.

1. Имя существительное. Множественное число. Артикли и предлоги как показатели имени существительного. Выражения падежных отношений в английском языке с помощью предлогов и окончания -s. Существительное в функции определения и его перевод на русский язык. Образование притяжательного падежа имен существительных.

2. Степени сравнения имен прилагательных и наречий. Сравнительные конструкции.

My future profession.

In early childhood children tell their parents whom they would like to be when they grow up. At school students begin thinking of their future profession. There are lots of professions in the world, and all of them are interesting and exciting. So it's very hard to discover your vocation in life.

The choice of profession depends on your abilities. If you are good at humanities you should choose something in this field. And if you are good at natural sciences you should choose something closely connected with them. I would like to become a chemist because I like chemistry. I think that it is a very interesting subject, but I am not so good at it so I think that I am not suitable for this profession. Inspite of all I possess some qualities which are needed in this field.

I think that my future profession will be closely connected with computers. I am capable to work with them, and I also possess the qualities needed in this work. They are accuracy, energy, carefulness. But I hesitate if I have enough patience. I must develop it if I want to become a computer operator. I know that it would be better to choose a profession of an interpreter or any other occupation connected with Russian and literature because I am good at these subjects but when I began to study the computer skills that was what I have been looking for. In our modern world it's hard to do without computers. They are needed everywhere, and I hope that my interests in this subject will never change inspite of any circumstances.

Hobbies.

Hobbies differ like tastes. If you have chosen a hobby according to your character and taste - you are lucky because your life becomes more interesting. Hobbies are divided into four large classes: doing things, making things, collecting things, and learning things.

The most popular hobby group is doing things. It includes a wide variety of activities, everything from gardening to traveling and from chess to volleyball. Gardening is one of the oldest man's hobbies. It is well-known fact that the English are very fond of gardening and growing flowers, especially roses.

Both grown-ups and children are fond of playing different computer games. This is a relatively new hobby but it is becoming more and more popular. Making things includes drawing, painting, making sculpture, designing costumes, handicrafts and others.

Almost everyone collects something at some period of his/her life: stamps, coins, matchboxes, books, records, postcards, toys, watches and other things. Some collections don't have real value. Others become so large and so valuable that they are housed in museums and art galleries. Many world famous collections started in a small way with one or two items. People with a good deal of money often collect paintings, rare books and other art object. Often such private collections are given to museums, libraries and public galleries so that others might see them.

Seasons.

There is an expression: "There is no bad weather. Every weather is graceful. Rain or snow - all the year round. We must accept gratefully ..."

Each season has its own peculiarities.

In spring the first shoots appear from the ground, as if taking the first steps. All nature returns to life. Brooks purl, drip of thawing snow, animals in the forest enjoy the sunshine, the first snowdrops peep through the snow. But not only the nature puts on bright colours, people also take off their warm coats. One feels like going along the street and smiling.

Summer takes us into a fantastic world. In summer the sun is bright, the sky is blue and bottomless.

In autumn, we can observe various beautiful landscapes. With the beginning of the early fall the crowns of trees become yellow. Indian summer comes. Trees are thoughtful; just remember the last days of summer, watching high mountains into the distance, as if trying to see the future.

Winter is peculiar in its own way. The trees stand in the snow, like apple trees in bloom. Pure white. The snow glitters in the sun, sparkling and glistening. Frost draws the patterns on the glass.

Each season is beautiful and unique. Nature unites all and everyone can enjoy his weather once a year.

Books in my life.

It`s common knowledge that proverbs are wise and memorable sayings. There is a Chinese proverb above, which I do agree with. A garden can be beautiful, with lots of flourishing flowers and fruit trees; you may be impressed by the charm of that kind of a garden. While reading a book, you may be delighted with the book`s plot that might have lots of twists and turns. A fruit tree bears fruits, a book makes you think.

I get a kick out of reading and I have no the will power to give up reading, but I don`t read just everything that I have at hand. I enjoy rereading the novels written by my favourite authors night and day. When I have free time, I strive to find out something new about modern literature and modern writers. I often go to the book shop in my city to buy books which I will read then at home, I know for sure that I will plunge into the atmosphere of the novel and while reading I will learn something important that will help me to change my mind concerning this or that subject or it will help me to cope with some troubles in my real life. You know, believe it or not, but recently I have bought some books written by Paulo Coelho and I have found the answers to my questions - maybe this is only coincidence, though Paulo Coelho writes that there is no coincidence in our lives, everything is interconnected: the first event causes the second event, the second causes the third and so on.

Books and reading - these words sound like magic for me; I spent almost every free minute reading a new book or rereading my favourite ones. So, it`s easy to catch me reading again and again. To cut a long story short I should say that books help me a lot.

Travelling.

Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. They travel to see other continents, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns, they travel to enjoy picturesque places, or just for a change of scene. It’s always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different musical rhythms.

Most travelers and holiday-makers take a camera with them and take pictures of everything that interests them - the sights of a city, old churches and castles, views of mountains, lakes, valleys, plains, waterfalls, forests; different kinds of trees, flowers and plants, animals and birds. Later, perhaps years later, they will be reminded by the photos of the happy time they have had.

People travel by train, by plane, by boat, by car, by bike and on foot. People travel to have a holidays or to have business. If people have business trips they choose the fastest transport. They often travel by plane or by train. It is very expensive but it is very fast. And if people want to have a rest they choose traveling by boat, by car, on horseback and etc. All means of travel have their advantages and disadvantages. And people choose one according to their plans and destinations.

If we are fond of traveling, we see and learn a lot of things that we can never see or learn at home, though we may read about them in books and newspapers, and see pictures of them on TV. The best way to study geography is to travel, and the best way to get to know and understand people is to meet them in their own homes.

Sports and games.

The fitness boom of the past decades led to a big rise in the numbers of people participating in sports and other physical activities. A healthy body becomes a fashion, an ideal of the life of today. Those who pursue the latest fitness fashion are convinced that staying in good physical form requires much more than regular exercise and balanced meals. For anyone who really wants to be healthy, fitness has become an integral part of their lives.

There are many opportunities for keeping fit. First of all, it is necessary to do exercises. People of different ages can design exercises that will fit them. Running, jumping, swimming, bending and stretching are among the most popular exercises. Many people prefer jogging, which is the cheapest and the most accessible sport. Walking is a very popular activity too. Even moderate physical activity can protect against heart disease and strokes as well as improve general health and the quality of life.

Everyone can benefit from being a little more active. Making small changes like using the stairs instead of the lift or walking or cycling instead of taking the bus can help people live a more active, healthier and enjoyable life.
